Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Refined and sporty luxury crossover SUV
Pros: Around-view monitor
Cons: Road noiseAs the institutional reviews note, this car is powerful, sleek, refined, technologically competitive, and a reasonable price within its segment. But what sold me on this car, surprisingly, was the around-view monitor. It makes parking in any direction very easy, whether pulling forward, around a tight corner, backwards, or parallel. The simulated view displays a camera angle from ABOVE your vehicle, so you can see exactly where your tires line up with the painted lines or curb, and how close your bumpers are to obstacles. Even with that clear imagine, the car warns you if it thinks you're about to hit anything while parking. As for any problems, one important note is that you need to have your dealership apply the software patch in Service Campaign Bulletin ITB10-031 (from July 9, 2010) before the glitchy nav system and tenuous iPod/iPhone integration actually works properly. Regarding performance, this car is far too noisy on the highway at 60mph+ speeds, and you really feel the larger bumps and dips in California freeways at 65mph+ (and that's with the non-Sport Package model...don't even bother with the FX50S if you want an even remotely comfortable ride while driving.) Also, adjusting side mirrors is difficult because the buttons are completely out of reach when sitting back against your seat...D'oh! But overall this vehicle has really hit the mark. Now if only the FX50 had the interior stylings of the M56...! (NOTE: exterior color Malbec Black and an automatic liftgate are available on the 2011 model, but not on the 2010 or earlier.)
Power and fuel 'efficiency overrated
Pros: looksA great vehicle ...but 14 MPG ...driving conservatively Power- ok on low end ...blame transmission 1/2 gear switch...expensive tire replacement Kind of 'plastic' for money
Very nice SUV
Pros: Inside finish.
Cons: power a bit on low side.Have driven vans, Jeeps, etc. This does a great job over all, could use a bit more power. Overall a fine car.
OH MY GOD, WHAT A CAR!
Pros: comfort of ride and onstar navigation
Cons: no spare tireBrand new, I bought the luxury AWD version. Driving this car is magnificent. Do not listen to any review that say this car doesn't have the pick up you need for everyday driving. This car is not slow and if you want more speed, through the shift handle to the left in the sports mode. Maybe for young kids who want a Corvette it may seem slow but it has all the power you need for everything else. Plus the ride comfort is nice and soft compared to many SUV's out their as well as great handling. On the hwy with cruise control I was getting over 27 mpg. Best thing in my opinion is ONSTAR navigation. Press the onstar button then tell the person where you want to go. They download turn by turn directions to the center of your speedometer and also to your navigation device maps. A nice woman's voice comes on speaking these directions to your destination while telling you which side of the road it is located on. No programing required. Just tell the real live person answering the onstar button your address that you want to go to or any point of interest that you may be interested in. Techies not needed Fit and finish on this car is also amazing. This is my first GM care in over 35 years. What a pleasure it is to ride in the comfort of this auto
Pros: There are to many to name but at the top is the Heads Up Display and the Power Folding Outside mirrors.
Cons: A little bit of exhaust note and a little road noise from the 19' tires. Not new to Toyota but new to Lexus. This is a great car. Quiet , comfortable and a joy to drive. I actually enjoy driving again. Loaded with features and the fit and finish is excellent. Real Wood on the interior. Drive train is smooth and quick. Lot's of room for hauling.
good value - best 4x4 with comfort
Pros: off road capability coupled with great street habits
Cons: fuel economyThe LR4 is a very quiet and capable SUV - unbeatable in 4x4 use. The variable air suspension works great and the sound proofing is superior to other makes I have owned. It is a 'thirsty' car but then it is heavy, well built and full of electronics. I like the design of the rear seats allowing a totally flat hauling surface when folded. The user interface with the Nav, Audio etc. units takes a while getting used to, but once familiar with it works well. The car is well built, and Quality Control seems to have improved. My only wish would be a Diesel engine instead of the thirsty Jaguar V8 engine.
Our best vehicule ever for the money
Pros: the 11 speaker Bose system & GPS & Blue tooth
Cons: Nothing. We purchased the Journey 2 wheel drive. What a pleasent vehicule to drive. It is powerful, quiet, elegant. You get a lot of options for the money. Their service is also 5 star. We are very very happy with this car. We had a Honda CRV EX all bells and whistles. The car is very reliable but the ride is very bumpy and hard on gas.Between both cars we're talking night and day.
