The Lincoln MKT is a four-door, five-passenger luxury crossover SUV that will debut for the 2010 model year. The Lincoln MKT will be manufactured in Oakville, Ontario, Canada alongside the Ford Edge, Ford Flex and Lincoln MKX. The Lincoln MKT is Lincoln’s next luxury crossover utility vehicle that hit the market in 2010. The ‘T’ stands for Touring. This MKT model is Lincoln’s third crossover SUV for their lineup. It sits nicely between the MKX crossover and the Navigator SUV.

There are some design influences from this year's MKZ, like the grille and crease in the hood. More unique elements that stand out are the Lincoln emblem behind the front wheels and the angle of the hatch. Some of this new look carries on into the smooth interior of the vehicle. The Lincoln MKT appears to offer a lot of space and efficiency in an elegant luxury utility package.

Under the hood of the new Lincoln MKT concept is expected to be a 3.5 L turbocharged and direct-injection V6 flex fuel engine. Combining the E-85 fuel with Ford’s EcoBoost engine technology, allows the driver to have the ability to flip back and forth between fuels without losing anything in performance or fuel efficiency. By using the V6 engine, instead of the more traditional V8 that is in most other competitive vehicles, there is a 15 percent improvement in fuel economy. This engine is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. This is an all wheel drive vehicle with electric power steering instead of the more traditional hydraulic power steering. It also has an independent rear suspension system.

This vehicle is going to be a full size utility vehicle that offers the same comforts of a luxury sedan, the sporty performance of a roadster and yet with the space and flexibility of a full-size utility vehicle. All of this and it’s been built with many ‘green’ materials, which is good for our environment. Some of these ‘green’ materials include two recycled plastic materials used in making the body panels, wire bundles, glazing and energy absorbers. The resins used are made from polyester waste and help to reduce noise and vibration as well as make it more resistant to heat and chemicals. These recycled or as some are calling them, ‘up-cycled,’ materials are lighter than regular materials, which helps to improve the fuel economy yet again.

The inside of the vehicle offers space, comfort and class. There are four large cushy chairs that offer maximum comfort. It’s hard to imagine but the second-row has heated and cooled thigh supports that come out from under the seats. There are also footrests that pull out from the front seats to let the passengers totally recline and even sleep.

This vehicle is 'connected' but in a smooth peaceful way. The technology is there but is not aggressive. There is a new patented solid-state lighting system for the center stack that can perform three-dimensional projections. This allowed for non-traditional, more efficient storage spaces. The flat screen system has two cameras to provide on-screen conference calling.
