The Lincoln MKS is a four-door, five-passenger full-size luxury sedan. The Lincoln MKS is manufactured in Chicago, Ill. alongside the Ford Taurus, Ford Taurus X and Mercury Sable. The Lincoln MKS is being touted as Lincoln’s new flagship design. The Lincoln MKS was based on a concept car first introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. Production of the MKS started in May of this year in Chicago, Illinois.

This 2009 model will only be available as a single model with a 3.7 L V6 engine offering 273 horsepower and 270 lbs-ft of torque. One design feature to improve fuel efficiency is the lighter die-cast aluminum block and four-valve cylinder heads. Paired with this engine is a six-speed automatic transmission with a SelectShift mode that allows the driver to select the gears manually.

The Lincoln MKS is a front-wheel drive vehicle but with an optional all-wheel drive system available. This system can control the engine torque to all four wheels using electronically controlled clutches and the AdvanceTrac stability control system that helps to regulate the side-to-side torque.

The EPA fuel economy rating for this vehicle is 17 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The exterior of the vehicle offers an unusual look with its waterfall grille and clean body sides, chunky body with steel covering much of its sides. The wide vertical tail lamps accent the square design. The suspension is nicely tuned offering the luxury car comfort along with precision steering. There are MacPherson struts and control arms in front with vertically mounted shocks in the back. It comes with selection of wheels available if you don’t like the 18 inched machined cast-aluminum wheels that come with it.

The interior of the Lincoln MKS is particularly memorable. There is excellent attention to detail with soft surfaces everywhere. The top of the instrument panel has a leatherette material, similar to top-of-the-line European cars. The visual look is smooth and flowing with minimal cutlines. The glove box flows from the passenger door to the center console. There is classy leather upholstery, one of the softest ever used. It’s a perfect match to the two wood trims, Ebony and Olive Ash, and all the aluminum and chrome accents.
