Pros: take off
Advice: stay away!!!!!I'll never buy another lincoln again!! the first 6 mo.s it spent more time in the shop than on the road, and now it still has a trans. pro. dealer just kept passing the buck, about manufactor
Cons: Gas mileage could be better
Advice: Good vehicle so far would purchase again, just hope they do better with the mileageDrives very smooth, handles like a car and plenty of get up and go power
Pros: steering wheel switches
Cons: Uncomfortable front seats
Advice: Don't just test drive this vehicle around the block. Most uncomfortable front seats I have ever owned.
Pros: The heated and cooled seats.
Cons: Gas mileage and a bit over priced.
Advice: It's an all around great vehicle compared to other mid size SUVs.I always liked the look of the Lincoln SUV's. I didn't want to purchase the Navigator b/c it was too big. When I sat inside the Aviator, it was a done deal. The interior is typical Lincoln, very easy to read gauges (day or night), the navigation/audio system is easy to figure out without the owner's manual and the voice recognition system makes it even easier to operate. When needed the heated and cooled seats makes trips enjoyable. The fold flat 2nd and 3rd row has been quite useful. Although, when either the front driver or passenger seat had their seats pushed all the way back, the passengers seated on the 2nd row had very little leg room. I love the performance of this SUV but you pay for this by the terrible gas mileage. It doesn't help that the high performance engine needs premium unleaded with the gas prices as they are today. It handles great even at higher than normal speeds, very stable. The transmission is smooth as silk. As one editor wrote, 'Handles like a sports car that can tow 7000 lbs.'
Pros: Performance & Ride
Advice: DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE IF YOU LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE!DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE IF YOU LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE!!!! The Aviator has a fundamental design flaw with the HVAC system that allows freezing cold outside air to flow onto the face and hands. The heating system needs major redesign. FORD FACTORY DENIES THE PROBLEM CLAIMING IT IS WITHIN DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS YET PROVIDES NO EMPIRICAL SUPPORT TO THESE CLAIMS. Look at Marc LaChapelle's review on the MSN Carpoint Canadian site. He cites the poor heat issue as well. Great vehicle in the summer...hideous treatment by the Factory towards dealers and consumers.
Cons: Gas Mileage
Advice: Skip the Ultimate, not worth the extra cost.A very powerful SUV with comfort and styling that sets it apart from its cousin the Mountaineer. Steering is smooth and responsive, dash is easy on the eye, controls (except driver memory set) are convienently arranged.
Cons: No cargo cover.
Advice: Just take one out for a test drive one.The Aviator is as near perfect as possible. My wife and I love everything from the way the vehicle sounds on start-up to the way it maneuvers for u-turns, parking, etc. to the impressive horsepower and smooth ride. The seats are extremely comfortable; sight-lines are great; and, the overall appearance makes me look back everytime I walk away from the vehicle. We purchased a white Aviator and added factory chrome wheels. I am not the only one who looks back at the vehicle . . . I frequently see other people doing a turn-around to check it out. My advice is to try it . . . you'll love it! We bought ours the same day we test drove it.
