Lexus has been developing its lineup of luxury sport utility vehicles for a while, and the crossover RX model lineup is one of the best sellers in the segment. For the 2015 model year, Lexus is introducing the NX compact crossover, which is based on parent company Toyota’s ubiquitous RAV4. The vehicles are different enough to satisfy luxury buyers, however. Benjamin Hunting, Road Test Editor for Autobytel, took a closer look at the all new 2015 Lexus NX 200t F-Sport, to see if this compact crossover can help Lexus attract the younger buyers it needs to maintain the brand’s strength.
The styling of the NX is definitely tailored to a younger audience, and as the entry level vehicle in the Lexus lineup, the price point is right where it needs to be to catch the eye of the car’s target market. The brand’s spindle grille makes an appearance, instantly providing a visual link between the new NX 200t F-Sport and the rest of the Lexus model family. An aggressive front bumper and a stylish wheel design communicate the car’s capabilities and luxury touches. An all new turbo 2-liter four-cylinder engine provides the NX 200t F-Sport with 235 horsepower. The F-Sport trim package adds benefits such as aesthetic upgrades, tuned suspension and steering, and LED headlights.
