Not much information is available yet, but Lexus confirmed today that it will be unveiling a new coupe on Jan. 9, 2012 at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Aside from a single image showing a close-up look at part of the car's front end, the only thing known about the new concept vehicle is that it was designed by Calty, Lexus' design studio located in Newport Beach, Calif. Past rumors indicate that this concept could show the design direction for a coupe based on the Lexus GS intended to take on other luxury sport coupes like the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or BMW 6 Series.

The teaser image Lexus released does show a continued design language that builds off the styling of the Lexus LFA sports coupe and the recently introduced GS sport sedan. This picture does show the intricate details of the headlights including the horizontal, L-shaped light strip, a trio of headlight projectors (possibly LED) and a vertical metallic trim piece that accents the front fascia intake. Other cues evident from this picture include the spindle-shaped front grille (similar to the new GS), sharp body creases on the hood and massive 21-inch front wheels. Although this image of the new Lexus concept car does show a family resemblance to the Lexus LFA sports car, it will likely be far more affordable than the $375,000 LFA.

Like recent Lexus concept vehicles, this new concept will likely carry the LF- moniker (possibly LF-GC or LF-SC), and it should be a very close-to-production look at the new coupe.
