Vincentric: Lexus CT 200h Offers Highest Hybrid Benefits

According to a recent analysis of the hybrid segment by Vincentric—an automotive research group that focuses on ownership costs—the Lexus CT 200h is the entry that delivers the biggest overall financial benefits over its traditionally powered counterpart. The results are based on vehicles being driven 15,000 miles per year, for five years, and take into account factors like MSRPs, resale values, expected repairs, and costs for fuel, insurance and maintenance.

And when all those figures were tallied up, the hybrids with the 10 highest ownership-cost advantages were:

2. Lincoln MKZ Hybrid—$4,778
3. Audi Q5 Hybrid—$3,805
4. Mercedes-Benz S-Class Hybrid—$3,283
5. Toyota Avalon Hybrid—$2,222
6. Hyundai Sonata Hybrid—$1,674
7. Toyota Prius v—$1,528
8. VW Jetta Hybrid—$1,487
9. Honda Insight—$1,079
10. Ford Fusion Hybrid—$803

Now, as those keeping score at home may realize, a lot of those vehicles actually don’t have a direct gas-only counterpart; be that as it may, the Vincentric study does show a definite trend for the good.

"As the prevalence of hybrid technology grows, our research shows that consumers are seeing additional vehicles that are financially advantageous when compared to their all-gasoline counterparts," noted David Wurster, president of Vincentric.
