Pros: The navigation and the stereo
Cons: Gas mileage is not for the faint of heart
Advice: Buy the HSE, you don't save much fuel economy getting the v6 (because of the wieght)The second I stepped inside I wanted it! The smell, the feel, the ruggedness...how any other car company can call thier vehicles SUV's is beyond me, with the exception of the Hummer. This is a true SUV and beautiful to boot!
Pros: Nav System
Cons: Fuel mileage
Advice: Step up & find the HSE you will appreciate it when you tradeWhen we Test drove the Lr3 we were impressed with the Nav & the overall feel. We were trading in our 2003 E.B Expedition with Nav so we wanted it well Equipt. We drove a SE & decided to step up to the HSE ( better Resale ) I don't know if we will really use all the capabilities of this vehicle but it is nice to know that it is their.
Cons: Lack of lumbar support on the new 2006 model I've ordered
Advice: Enjoy it, and don't be discouraged if you have an initial problem, LR will fix it.I rented an LR3 from Hertz, spent several days four-wheeling in the Rockies. Also quite a bit of time on the pavement, nice windy mountian highways in the front-range. I truly let it fly through the entire envelope - after all, this is a rental, they gotta take it back :) One Word: Awesome! I do believe the LR3 is the best allround performing automobile I have ever driven. This thing has it all, and at a level nothing can compare with. Features galore - that actually work. Powerful, ton's of space everywhere, Jaguar smoothness, incredible handling on road, and mind boggling off. 8 air bags, super tight and strong chassis, 6-sp tranny with sport and manual modes. Low range 3:1 transfer, 2 lockers, 5 special off-road programs, air suspension with 4 heights, and oh my god 13 inches of wheel travel! ad infinitum. A superb Nav system, excellent stereo, blue-tooth cell with docking charger that actually fits the phone you already have! It truly bests my my 2005 Mercedes in every way, by an order of magnitude. How can this possibly be a Land Rover? I'm warning you about the LR3's Siren song, drive one and you won't be able to stay away...
Pros: Strength of the brand and numerous service dealers in Africa. :)
Cons: No Option for SatPhone.
Advice: Pack lightly and enjoy the view.We took delivery of our 2K5 Land Rover LR3 in Cape Town South Africa in January. We arrived in Nairobi Kenya after traveling 58 days thru Pretoria, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania and arriving very tired in Kenya. The Land Rover experienced five flat tires and one broken windscreen. This was from no small part of Land Rover quality. The flats occured from rock punctures and the broken windscreen from a marabou stork. The ride and confort is exceptional and we averaged about 5 kilometers per liter the entire trip. We are planning to drive to Senegal via Sudan, Chad, Nigeria, Burkina, Mali in August. Not sure if we are going to pack and extra windscreen or not. ;)
