2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

    Pros: 4AWD

    Cons: Lack of pickup

Advice: ask about the cash purchase discount

Best vehicle for Michigan snow - better than other 4wd cars. Stability control makes for an effortless drive out of early morning snow covered roads. My favorite car ever - looks good, drives good, good handler. The only negative is the initial head bumping upon entry, but you learn to put your head in first, the rest of the experience is tops.

    2002 Land Rover Freelander - S

Pros: Apperance and its a REAL offroading vehicle

    Cons: Hard shifting when acclerating

Advice: If you want a fast sports car drive, pick a different car

This is my first car of my own and it is a truley fantastic car. The styling is beautiful but the interior on the base Freelander is too standard for a luxury SUV. But these cars can handle everyday driving but they really love off-roading. This SUV can handle all the bumps and twists in the road except it takes a while to get up to higher speeds.

    2002 Land Rover Freelander - S

Pros: LOVE the Swing-hinge back door with a back glass that can be lowered!

    Cons: Needs more ground clearance.

Advice: Take it on an obstacle course test drive...you'll be signing papers within the hour.

Granted, this car doesn't look like the 'Safari-Ready' typical Land Rover, but it's all Land Rover trait inside... wish it looked it more! Drive the Xterra, Liberty, Explorer THEN this car.. you'll buy it! I've had mine for almost a year- Handling in all seasons is steady and sure, offroad loaded with people and gear is 'bring it on!' confident, city driving is 'performance car' smooth and solidly comfortable, the Land Rover scheduled maintenance is excellent. More interior than the higher priced Discovery. What would I change- maybe another inch of ground clearance and cargo space...but I do like to drive my kayaks to the river alot...

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

    Pros: Solid Handling

    Cons: Heating system/Standard Radio

Advice: Get an upgraded radio unless you want to listen to only cd's

Firm and responsive. I especially like being able to drop the automatic shift into manual mode to rush up hills, instead of chugging up like most other SUV's in its class. Beware the Standard radio occassional 'drops' reception of my favorite local channel and others have reported this too. Never a problem in any other car I have driven in this area. Also heat vent is situated directly above drivers accelerator foot, and can't be controlled independent of the rest of the system. Its either burning hot or off, so no open topped shoes if you want to keep your right foot from being fried to a crisp in the winter.

2002 Land Rover Freelander - SE

Pros: The View and the controls

Cons: slight roll on uneven roads

Advice: Its the best vehicle in its class and worth the price

I am a small person 5ft in height and this is the most convenient vehicle that I have driven. The view is excellent. The AC is much better than my husbands 325 BMW. The acceleration from 40-80 mph is good. The stereo is very good. As far as the size I can park without difficulty. The Freelander is not a threat to other vehicles unlike some of the other SUVs. Brakes, handling and controls are first class
