Fifty years after Ferrucio Lamborghini decided to try his hand at out-Ferrari-ing Ferrari, the Italian super-car company that bears his name will be the focus of a major anniversary celebration here in the United States at the 2013 Concorso Italiano. The exhibit of Italian style is part of the massive automobile extravaganza that descends each August on the Monterey peninsula of California, where enthusiasts also can take in events like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, “The Quail” motorsports gathering, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, vintage auctions by RM and Mecum, and the proverbial much, much more.
As for the Concorso Italiano, it obviously puts the focus on the birthplace of the modern-day super-car and, as mentioned, will this year help recognize the first half century of Lamborghini. Organizers could use a little assistance of their own, however, especially if you happen to be a Lambo owner: The Concorso has announced an open call for entries for its centerpiece display, which will feature Lamborghini products from throughout the automaker’s five decades of existence.
Interested owners are being asked to submit a photo and information about their vehicle(s) to firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration, with the event scheduled for Aug. 16, 2013, at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey.
