Advice: this is a great car, but if the dealer ship is any thing like the one I bought mine at the customer service suckedDrives alot smoother than any small car i have ever had
Pros: Almost everything is great including the sound system.
Cons: I wish it got a little better mileage although the mileage is bad.
Advice: Get it I don't think you can do any better, just make sure it is the new LD seriesI am totally satisfied with my new Spectra EX. The vehicle feels solid and tight just like my wife's Civic, in fact we like it better than the Civic. The fit and finish is great and it is very comfortable. It handles really well on the road. This car is an outstanding value and is a 100% improvement over the previous model. I would highly recoomend it to anyone who is looking for this type of vehicle.
Advice: DO NOT BUY A KIA!!I bought this vehicle with 157 miles on it and the first week the check engine light was on. I took it in and they stated nothing wrong. I have never had so many problems with a new vehicle in my life!! One thing after another and all Kia says is 'There is a 10 year 100,000 mile warrenty for your vehicle'. Oh Sure, Everytime it goes in the shop (which has been plenty) I have to get a rental because Kia does not incude a rental during repairs. The most recent - I took my car in (lets not forget there were 5 other people with the same car in for service too) because when you step on the gas or break there is a loud rattling noise but Kia service says nothing is wrong with the car. I have owned the vehicle one year and I am now purchasing something else, but the not so fun part is that I still owe $10,000 on this car and other dealers will give me $4000.00 what it is worth. I will suck it up only to get this living nightmare out of my life! I would not wish this car on my worst enemy.
Pros: It has four wheels
Cons: ... everything else about this vehicle.
Advice: Save yourself the headache and get *ANYTHING* else. Even a moped would be preferable.Worst possible choice for a vehicle, EVER. Drove it off the lot at 11,000 miles. Took it in for service to have the wheel bearings replaced (under warranty) at 12,000 or so, again at 42,000 (warranty), and just a few months ago by an independant. Later, found a rattling in the rear when going over bumps. The Kia dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it, but an independant found the rear support to le loose. Made the dealer replace that undr warranty. A few more thousand miles, found the rear break cylinders to be leaking (drums and shoes were GLAZED). They said a little leakage is normal. Um... not when one of the cylinders is actually missing part of the end cap. $600 worth of break work later (at least SOME of which should have been warranty)... And just a few weeks ago, the transmission siezed at 78,000 miles; it's going to cost around $1,400 - $1,800 for this repair. Admittedly, I may be harder on cars than most, but my '97 Mirage had over 173,000 miles on it and not a single major issue. Paid $10k for a car that, in less than three months, had plummeted in KBB value to less than $6. Now? I'd be lucky to get $2,000 for it. Stay. Away. From. This. Company. The dealer will fight you every which way to avoid honoring the warranty (having the oil changed elsewhere will void the warranty on the seal of the oil pan, for example... yes, that was replaced, too), and as for the car itself, I'm sure they're built out of parts from gumball machines.
Pros: Hmm, alot of them. The handling/steering of the car is tight, and has great get up and go.
Cons: Can't put anything here, cause there isn't anything I can think of that I don't like on the car.
Advice: I would highly recommend this car for anyone that is looking for an economical car, with a great engine, and alot of safety features. When I was searching for my FIRST new car, I looked at some other ones before the Kia Spectra. The dealership just got a program one in, with 20k miles (so I knew it was broken into). I test drove it, looked around the car, and made sure it was something I liked. I don't regret buying this car one bit! And the service from the dealership I bought it from is impecable.
Pros: The style of the car.
Cons: Mostly everything.
Advice: DO NOT BUY THIS VECHICLEWhen I first took this car for a test drive, I thought it was the one. I took the car home and the first couple of days I noticed my curtain airbags were sticking out. I have the LX model and for some reason, my doors lock automatically( I think Kia put a curse on my car). Now my sensor on the dashboard telling me that my airbags are ON do not work and I called Kia and they stated that they knew of this problem but can not fix my problem no time soon. Kia refuse to fix anything down here in Dallas, so if you see this vechile, PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT!!!!!
Pros: The Engine, it loves being in the high RPM range.
Cons: Sound System, cheap feel of the steering wheel
Advice: Definately invest in the 5 spd, much more resposnive than the automatic.I LOVE This car! It's quiet, spacious, and its engine is all about high RPM's. This little car asks a little, but gives a lot. I bought the 5 spd manual, and this car is zippy. The interior is solid, my only complaint is that the steering wheel feels cheap, but that's it. And the sound system is somewhat lacking. But other than that I have been extremely pleased with the performance this car has, it has a better power to weight ratio, and more horespower than the equivalent Civic and Corolla, and can beat them off the line every time.
