On the face of it, the 2014 Kia Sorento looks to be same as the 2013 Sorento. However if you take a closer look, you begin to notice all of the small and big changes Kia made to the new 2014 Sorento.

We’ll start with the 2014 Sorento’s exterior. From afar, the 2014 Kia Sorento looks very much like the outgoing Sorento. But get closer and you see the headlights with LED strips, a revised front grille, new wheel choices, and a redesigned tailgate. It may be only a mid-cycle refresh, but the new Sorento really looks the part.

Inside the Sorento, major changes have taken place. To start, the center stack has been completely redesigned and now features a eight-inch touchscreen with Kia’s UVO infotainment system. The instrument cluster features a LCD screen for the speedometer. Interior space has seen increase, most notably in the second and third row. Kia added 30mm of space for the second row and 9mm of space for the third row.

Power for the 2014 Sorento comes in the form of two engines,

  • 2.4L GDI Four-Cylinder: 191 Horsepower, 181 Pound-Feet of Torque
  • (New for 2014) 3.3L GDI V6: 290 Horsepower, 252 Pound-Feet of Torque

Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and can be equipped to drive the front or all four wheels. EPA ratings for the 2014 Sorento are,

  • 2.4L GDI Four-Cylinder: 20 City/26 Highway/22 Combined (FWD); 19 City/24 Highway/21 Combined (AWD)
  • 3.3L GDI V6: 18 City/25 Highway/21 Combined (FWD); 18 City/24 Highway/20 Combined (AWD)

Pricing for the 2014 Kia Sorento starts at $24,100 for the LX model equipped with the four-cylinder and front-wheel drive and can climb up to $39,800 for the SX-L model equipped with the V6 and all-wheel drive. Competitors for the 2014 Sorento include the Ford Explorer, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Toyota Highlander.
