Cons: qualified customer serviceIn march 09, i purchased a qualified pre-owned 2003 KIA sedona at Quirk of Braintree then three months later they said my hoses where rotting and my need to be replaced . Now a year later my engine start rattling without knowing what the problem, is they called my warranty and subjested they not cover the cost to find the problem ; that i should folk over an enormous amount of money before they even know what the problem is so i'm without a car to go to work and i'm still making payment while my van sat in the street. Odo 52276 at purchased now 65154.
Pros: remote lock
Cons: adjustable steering wheelno problems at all
Cons: lack of real warranty
Advice: don't buy a KIAMy 2003 KIA Sorento engine was destroyed when it overheated and warped the heads. The idiot lights did not come on. The cause eventually was found to be the coolent bottle which was cracked on the bottom and leaked under pressure. KIA did not stand by their warranty. They said the timing belt was non KIA and therefore voided the warranty even though the timing belt did not cause the problem.
Pros: How high and comfortable it is.
Cons: Taking it in repeatedly for repairs
Advice: Look for improvments in the newer models. Ask lots of ques. Go with the EX if you canWe purchased '03 new off the lot. We really liked it at first. It sits nice and high. Very comfortable ride for all. It could use more room in the back behind the seats. But we have had problems. The altenator went out about a year after purchase & the elec system went a little crazy when it did. It won't hold an alignment. It has blown 3 sets of tires because of it. Kia tells us the alignment is not covered by warrenty, so we paid almost $100 to get it fixed... stil not holding. We have had it aligned 4 times in the 3 years! The a/c switch has had to be replaced 2 times. One back handle broke off... NOT from hard use, our girls are 6 and under! The cup holder had to be replaced, it wouldn't stay clicked in as it is designed to do. Brakes squeal terribly, but Kia says there is nothing wrong with them.
Pros: Comfort for distance traveling with a large group or kids.
Cons: Back tailgate is very heavy to close - but I'll suck it up for all the nice features and what I paid for it. Hopefually they will change this on future models.
Advice: Consider the Kia if you are looking for comfort and safety in a mini van, an economical price and don't need to pay for all the frills that the 'other' mini vans jack up their prices for.We have been thrilled with our Sedona. In all honesty, we began looking at it because of one reason - try to find another 5* (all around the vehicle) crash test rating, and same comfort for the $$ and you simply won't find it. We were very skeptical going into to looking at them. We really wanted an Odyssey as we are typically Honda and Toyota buyers. However, we honestly didn't need all the fancy features and really just wanted a reliable more comfortable vehicle for our long distance travels. We have put over 25,000 miles on it so far (bought with only 5,000 on it) and it's every bit as good as new. We are actually now looking at putting a towing package on it and getting rid of our Durango because it is so much nicer to haul cargo it. The seats pop out very easily and although they are a little heavy, they have rollers on the bottom. So, you just set them down on the ground and roll them into the garage. We have the bucket seating in ours which is wonderful for if you want to allow someone to stretch out on long rides. We just take one of the middle seats out and since the very far back seats slide forward/back and RECLINE, the person sitting back there can stretch way out and sleep comfortably. We looked at all the american made models also and the only ones with 'adult friendly' rear row seating were the honda, mazda and kia.
Pros: Comfort, looks
Cons: The ability to remove / change the seats.
Advice: buy the latest modelHave had the van for two years. Very comfortable and roomy. The gas milage is what I would have expected from a van so it was not surprising. I noticed that the things I wished it had on purchase are now available in the new ones such as a center counsel and entertainment package. Only MAJOR complaint, the seats are TERRIBLY difficult to remove !
Pros: seat comfort
Cons: gas mileage
Advice: drive other vans and compareWe have had this van for almost two years and 20,000 miles. The ride is excelent ,the view is great not many blind spots .the get up and go is great the handeling is very good.will not blow around like other mini vans do ,this is because of the weight ,about 4000 lbs.sway and lean is minimal.very comfortable seating. This is the cheaper model the LX.everything works like it is supposed to.Have had a couple of minor problems a clamp came loose on the gas line vapor return line .they fixed it with no problem and gave us a car to drive while in the shop.Kia came out and towed it in in a half hour when this happened.Gas mileage is about 15 combined city/road could be better.many aminities for the price.great van for the moneyneed to upgrade the rear seating to stole in floor.only other problem air bag light just came on they will fix it next week.wife loves her kia.much more comfortable than Chrysler town and country.
