Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Very reliable, comfortable, and versatile vehicle. Served our needs well. Low maintenance costs. Easy care.
Pros: sunrof and the handling
Cons: the substance that the body is made ofThe driving and performance is great-but the body is like tissue paper, and needs yearly painting if I touch an object.
Cons: Check engine light will not go out
Advice: NEVER BUY AN VEHICLE FROM KIA!I bought 2002 Kia Sedona new and have had constant problems with it. It currently has a rejection sticker on it. The dealer, who is apathetic, has washed their hands of our car, even though we spent $1500.00+ trying to fix it. Everything is bad with this vehicle. Doors do not close properly, wind noise has been a constant problem, and the dealer had the car for 2 months when we bought it because it needed a new wiring harness. A word to the wise. Do not buy a Sedona or any car from Kia. The only thing worse than the cars are the dealers who service them.
Pros: Leather seats
Cons: Road noise, all plastic parts (interior) brake easily, AC quit working, RAdio quit working, etc.
Advice: DONT BUY ITIf you are looking for a cheap van, you got it, the Sedona looks good, but has the worst quality! Road noise, all plastic parts (interior) brake easily, AC quit working, RAdio quit working, etc. I have visited the dealership 5 times and I have owned the vehicle for only 11 months....HATE KIA
Cons: I am stuck with this lemon!!!!
Advice: WATCH OUT- ITS A BIG LEMON!!!!! SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP IS HORRIBLE!I have had nothing but problems with this van!! Needs to be aglined every 6mths to a year, replaced 6 tires in a year and a half. (not under warrenty of course) New compresser put in AC- It was shooting out hot air and service told me it was fine - no problems.. Took it back 3 times before they would fix it. Paint is peeling off! Guzzles gas like crazy!! Price was good, now I know why!! The van STINKS!!!!
Pros: The appearance of the Van
Cons: Customer Service - they will not take responsibility for their mistakes and lies
Advice: Get absolutely EVERYTHING in writing. Don't let them con you tooI was lied to. The Kia Dealership told me that I would have the 100K warranty. This is not true when you are the 2nd owner. In addition, at 58K miles they said that they transmission shuddering that I was experiencing was due to lack of maintenance, so I had the 60K maintenance done a month later ($460). The problem never went away so I took it back in and they said that I needed a new transmission, and now that I was over 60K, it was not covered. I have been trying for 2 mo. now to allow Kia or the dealership to rectify this, but they refuse to take responsibility for misdiagnosing the problem when it was under the warranty.
Pros: Child Safety Locks
Cons: Prices for parts
Advice: Buy new as KIA does not care about a second owner.I have had my 2002 Kia Sedona LX for just over two years and am looking to trade it in. I have driven it across country and yes it was comfortable but KIA Motors America is not worth dealing with. I had been complaing about a CV Boot for a year and the KIA dealership said they could find nothing wrong (other mechanics found it), KIA found it after the warranty was out and KIA Motors America wnted me to pay $500.00 to get a problem fixed that would have been covered under the warranty if looked at. Also it is 3 yeras old now and I cannot find after market parts for the Sedona. That is is how KIA makes money, vans are sold cheap but repairs/parts are costly. Other problems I have had with this vehicle include the rear heat and the whole air conditioner have never worked right and the power window motor went bad on the passanger side. Engine has been very strong and has nice pick-up to it. I will say KIA pt a solid motor in this vehicle.
