    2002 Kia Rio - (M5) Sedan

    Pros: Power brakes???...what other features???

Cons: Blinding snow storm cruise control. (throttle linkage frozen)

Advice: Since you will be buying it used. Check it over well to ensure that previous owner did not trash it.

Bought this car used with 7,000 miles it now has 65,000. The car is as basic as you can get, which is all I wanted. Car has the 5 speed manual, no A/C or power steering. My gas mileage has been around 34 to almost 38 MPG. On the interstate the cars runs 80 + MPH easy. Have taken it up to 100 in a quick spirt, but dont recommend doing this for after 80 it starts getting a little loose. Very impressed with this cars reliability and ecomomy. If you folks remember the Ford Festiva and Aspire. Those were both KIAs built for Ford. I have only used Mobil 1 in my car and I plan to keep it around till it has well over 100,000 miles on it. I may keep it for one of my kids to drive. My car has had NO mechanical issues what so ever. Very nice to have a reliable car now days with the hi cost of labor. I would recommend this car for anyone looking for decent reliable transportation. As good as this car is, it is not of course perfect. The original tires had weak sidewalls and I lost one to a sidewall puncture. Wish 5th gear was a little higher for I find myself from time to time searching for the next gear or checking to make sure I was in fifth. Once after driving 150 miles in a snow storm with white out conditions. The car failed to slow down. Used the clutch and higher gear to keep the engine from over revving as I pulled it off to the side of the road. The snow was so fine that day it got into the engine compartment and built up aroung the throttle linkage keeping the throttle from returning to the idle position. Worked this loose with my hand and returned to driving with no more problems. In the cars defense I would consider that I was driving my it in extremely poor conditions. Most people would never even be out on the roads in that kind of weather or be on the interstate barely seeing the tractor trailer ahead of you for all the snow that was being kicked up. A simple plastic shield around the throttle body would easilly correct this issue. Overall this is just plain and simple a great car for the money.

    2002 Kia Rio - (M5) Wagon

Pros: The easy to use controls

Cons: Acceleration is measured with a calender

Advice: The warranty makes the car bullet proof

The Rio Cinco is a comfortable car to drive. The front seats are very good for a car of this class. The front compartment is very roomy. There is space to haul stuff and the standard cargo cover is good at Christmas time. The A/C is powerful, the CD is good, the overall ride is good.

    2002 Kia Rio - (M5) Wagon

    Pros: smooth ride and quiet

Cons: no power windows offered on 2002 models

Advice: Buy the Cinco over the sedan. It is much better.

I was surprised when I test drove the Rio Cinco with a manual transmission. The car was extremely quiet and smooth. Performance was fine. I bought it at a highly reduced price and am very pleased with this car. It is far better than I conceived. The smooth ride and lack of wind noise are amazing. The seats are comfortable and supportive. I found that the Cinco seems totally different from the sedan models. It is of higher quality and much more quiet and smooth. After many months of owning my Cinco I am still pleased. All my friends love this car and are amazed at its value and refinement.

    2002 Kia Rio - (M5) Sedan

    Pros: price

Cons: front comfortable, but back seat not roomy enough

Advice: great car for the price

The dealership was very helpful. The only complaints I've had, is the 'new car' odor and that the windows do not completely close (all 4), it does not rain in but the wind noise. I've had my car for 17 months and it has never been in the shop.

    Pros: the radio

    Cons: the gas milage

Advice: ture and just walk away

I bought the car new and i have had i for a 1 year and it has been in the garage 3 times. I would not advise anybody to buy one. You'll just wast your money.
