2002 Kia Sedona - EX
Submitted on 12/29/2001 9:51:34 AM- Summary
Pros: Engine with 5 speed automatic
Cons: Low EPA but we are getting better then was listed.
Advice: Drive this Van and compare the price.
A very soild smooth and quiet driving and riding Van. The 195hp engine and 5 speed automatic give it plenty of power in traffic and cruises at less rpm then our 97 Toyota Avalon at highway speeds. The Sedona van has many features standard that you can't even get with other vans as an option. Like a full size spare, power passenger seat, or a windshield deicer to mention a few. The qaulity is tops with leather seats and all. You can't beat the price or warranty anywhere.

Pros: sunroof
Cons: The interior lights need to stay on longer until you insert the key in the ignition.
Advice: Buy it you would definitely get your money worth and then some.
This is the best vehicle I've ever owned. It drives smoothly and quietly. There is a lot of storage space. I love my sunroof, cd/cassette player and most of all the sound. This vehicle has a sound system that you would never imagine coming from a minivan. The price was great compared to others I had seen. I thank the Kia Company for this vehicle a job well done.

2002 Kia Sedona - EX
Submitted on 11/24/2001 5:21:40 AM- Summary
Pros: price
Cons: wheel covers
Advice: watch out for overpriced 'dealer fees' ie mudguards, enviromental pkg
The test drive was good. The van has good pick-up and handling. The ride was comfortable, even on the poorly maintained roads around the dealership. There is an unusual amount of storage bins. No loud road noise was noticed, the radio was difficult to operate. There is not much room cargo room in the rear with the third row seats in place but the seat is easily removed. A good choice for the money when compared to other minivans

Pros: Comfort of interior layout
Cons: The van is narrow compared to others; golf clubs are tight fit
Advice: Be wary of dealer pricing. Check tire pressure. Skip ABS.
This van runs so quietly, it is difficult to believe it is a Kia. Great pick-up, excellent ride, attractive interior. Leather upholstery is tastefully done. Kia engineers appear to have picked out all the good elements from the competition, improved on them, and then lowered the price. Initial ride was too harsh until I lowered the tire pressure from 45 pounds to 35 pounds. Ride improved immensely. Every door and compartment closes with a Lexus quality thunk. Even the radio appears to be good. I purchased for about $1000 under MSRP, but some dealers are increasing price by $1495 for something they call 'market value adjustment'.

2002 Kia Sedona - EX
Submitted on 10/27/2001 9:29:48 AM- Summary
Pros: Quiet ride and engine performance (acceleration/hill climbing etc.)
Cons: Though the rear seat is comfortable I wish it had the hide-away feature that Mazda MPV and Honda Odyssey have.
Advice: Due to supply and demand most dealers are asking MSRP, beware those asking even more.
Earlier this year we purchased a Hyndai Santa Fe, which we are very happy with. That experience made us willing to look at another Korean manufacturer. The Sedona EX is very nicely equipped, with almost every option already included. One thing that stood out during our test drive was how exceptionally quiet the vehicle is. The 3.5 liter V6 performs nicely on steep grades (important here in Colorado), and is one of the factors that influenced us to select the Sedona over the Mazda MPV (2.5 liter engine). Gas mileage is not its strongest point though, as it appears poorer than other 3.5s on the market, such as the Honda Odyssey. The 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty is a definite selling point. The driver sets high relative to the dash, and has a good view and sense of the location of the front end when parking and maneuvering (not the case in many minivans). The shift lever for the 5-speed automatic is located on the dash/console. We found it convenient yet out of the way. It provides a comfortable, yet stick shift-like control of the transmission. One unusual feature was the number of storage compartments, in addition to the glove compartment. I think I remember at least three. Regarding seating, the fully adjustable 8-way driver's seat and 4-way front passenger's seats are very comfortable. Middle and rear passengers' seats are also comfortable for adults. The only thing I'd change would be to have the hide-away rear seating configuration that MPV and Odyssey have. The two places I rated the Sedona less than 100 were quality and appearance. That is not due to identified flaws, just it is difficult to rate quality without including durability, which we don't know yet. Regarding appearance it is nice, but to me does not stand out anymore than most minivans. After all folks, it is a minivan. ;-) Though dealers (including the Autobytel referral) are asking MSRP due to limited supply, the Sedona is priced very competitively, far less than its Honda and Toyota counterparts. At this point we have not purchased yet, but believe the Sedona may currently be the best value in a minivan.

Pros: I enjoy the sunroof/leather package along with the quality of the radio/CD player.
Cons: Gas Mileage and cargo space with all three rows in.
Advice: Buy the EX model
The test drive went very well. I was overwhelmed by all of
