The Kia Forte 5-door is a five door five passenger compact hatchback that is available in both EX and SX trims. The entry level $18,100 Kia Forte EX is powered by a 2.0 Liter four cylinder engine that produces 156 HP and 144 lb-ft of torque while the $19,600 5-door SX gets a 2.4 Liter motor that generates a total of 173 HP and 168 lb-ft of torque, both channeling go forces directly to the front wheels through a six speed electronically controlled Sportmatic gearbox; the SX being good for an estimated 23 MPG in the city and up to 32 MPG on the highway with the more conservative EX getting a gas sipping 26 MPG around town and as much as 36 MPG at cruising speeds.
All five door Forte’s come with a six speaker AM/FM/XM/CD/MP3 stereo standard as well as USB ports and Aux input jacks to connect digital storage devices and wireless hands free connectivity via Bluetooth. On the inside, the Kia EX gets cloth covered seating while the Forte SX gets Sport Cloth. Both offer a convenient 60/40 split rear bench, but it is the SX that benefits from upgrades like a leather wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, metallic interior accents and matching sport pedals. On the outside, all Fortes receive color matching power side mirrors with integrated turn signals and a rear spoiler; the SX comes with fog lights and a chrome exhaust tip standard, but the power tilt/slide sunroof is an option for all Fortes. The entry level EX rides around on a set of 16 inch rollers and the sporty SX benefits from a set of 17 inch rims housing a sport tuned suspension.
Popular option packages for the Kia Forte 5-door include the EX Technology Package that comes with the optional navigation system with rear camera display, automatic climate control, push button starter with Smart Key and chrome door pulls as well as fog lights. The SX Technology Package includes an optional navigation system with Sirius XM Traffic and rear camera display as well as convenient keyless entry, while the luxurious SX Leather Package upgrades the seating to leather with heat being offered up front.
