Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The size (very easy to park) and the looks.
Cons: The amount of time spent at the service department
Advice: Plan on becoming very well known with the service departmenthe first initial ride was great! But has time goes by I find more and more going wrong with every part of the car (I originally had a 2001 but the rear end was shot at 20,000 miles. The only reason I got another one was because of the money, and the dealer knew they had to keep me happy so they basically took my 2001, which was only 1 year old, and gave me a 2002.). My 2002 is only 4.5 months old and the transmission has already needed to be removed and fixed, among other things. I tend to spend at least 10 out of 30 days a month with the service department of the dealership (you better get along with the mechanics, it will make life easier on you). And the only reason I still have it is because I have to wait until I can make some money on it as a tr
Pros: The Wrangler wave. (once you get one you'll know)
Cons: the dors are not as easy to take off as the CJ's
Advice: This is a Jeep don't expect it to be a mustang or escalade. When you get a jeep wrangler you get what you are buying nothing more. You get a bute that goes anywhere. If you expect that you get a lot more.. The Engine and trany are solid. The i-6 is more or less the same i-6 from my dads 77 CJ. YThe sound sytem is great! Also it does carry stuff... I put a 14000 btu a/c in my back with the rear seat folded. Now I know what your thinking performance of Excellent? Well when you get a Wrangelr one should not expect 0-60 times in the low 6's or skidpad high g rating... Also last but not least...Compareed to other convertables....Its a bargin
Pros: It's versatility and short turn radius.
Cons: leg room for the driver needs an extra inch.
Advice: If you are looking for a 'fun' ride - this is it.Major difference in the TJ - the way it rides on pavement is night and day compared to the YJ's. A major thank you for the return of the ROUND headlights and the new coil equiped suspension. I like the way it handles off-road as well - stock! I was duly impressed. I bought it.
Cons: 2.5 engine
Advice: buy 4.o enginebuy the 4.0 not the 2.5
Pros: Review and MSRP prices.
Cons: The High prices-Everywhere we went.
Advice: Computer price check at least three dealersMine is a 2002 Sahara. Very cute. Quick steering. Medium take off speed with the automatic. Small interior space for the driver. No side door arm rest. No leg room in the back seat.Fun to drive, but very bouncy.Extremely expensive. You can buy a new CRV Honda, Rava, Or new Jeep Liberty for this high price. Can you believe it? ROLL down windows-Noisy hard top with freeway speed and a flat window. But, It is fun and attracts many looks.
Pros: Taking the top off
Cons: Gas mileage
Advice: Think before you buyHas generous power but why use it with all of the wind noise. The ride is bouncy and the wind is loud even with a hard top. If you drive on the highway, forget it. Gas mileage is horrible for such a small vehicle. One thing to note is that it costs so much for so little, you won't have any money to buy anything else, but that is good because there is no room to cart any payload. Off-road and in the snow it is great. As much as I complain, it's a jeep, so what more can I say.
Pros: My favorite feature is the Command-Trac Partime 4-Wheel Drive.
Cons: The only thing I don't like but expected was the poor gas millage 14/16.
Advice: Iffuel economy is high on your list than this is not the vehicle for you.The 6cyl Tech I provides more than enough power for play and everyday driving. In less than 2000 miles I have already experinced mud, snow, sleet, rain and hard off road terain and overall I would say the Wrangler X lives up to the Jeep Wrangler name. Handling is very smooth and the 4 wheel drive on demand is a nice transition and not as noisy or worysum as the sales person lead me to believe.
