After successfully recruiting a special Jeep Wrangler Freedom Edition for its squad last year, the Jeep brand recently announced that a similarly kitted-out 2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition is on sale this year with a price that opens at $21,445. The package delivers new gear and new style for owners, but more importantly, it also delivers financial support to help those who have helped the country as members of the U.S. armed forces. As explained by Jeep’s Betty Newman: “In special gratitude for those who serve and have served in the U.S. military, the Jeep brand will be putting ‘its money where its mouth is’ by donating $250 from each 2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition sold to charities benefitting the U.S. military. Eligible customers can also take advantage of a military bonus consumer cash program with a $500 cash allowance.”
The 2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition is available—in limited quantities—in both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations, with the former capable of 30 mpg on the highway and the latter delivering unsurpassed all-wheel-drive performance in its segment. And remember, the Jeep Patriot is built here in the U.S. at the brand’s assembly complex in Belvidere, Ill.
2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition: What You Get
The 2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition is being deployed on the foundation of the Latitude model, which means it starts with standard features like air conditioning, power locks/windows, heated and power-adjustable outside mirrors, fog lamps, rear-seat climate vents, roof rails, heated cloth seats, and a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel. Next, before adding its militarized upgrades, the vehicle also welcomes a sunroof, all-season floor mats and the brand’s Security and Cargo package, which includes adjustable roof-rail crossbars, supplemental side airbags for front-seat occupants, a tire-pressure-monitoring system with individualized readouts for all four tires, a soft tonneau cover, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a security alarm; on 4X4 Freedom Editions, the All-weather Capability Group comes into play, with daytime running lamps, all-terrain tires, tow hooks and an engine-block heater.
And it’s only then that the brand brings out the new stuff for the 2013 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition. Distinguishing this fierce Patriot are:
- A choice of three highly appropriate colors—Deep Cherry Red crystal pearl coat, Bright White clear coat and True Blue pearl coat
- Military-style “star” graphics on the hood, rear quarter panel and front seats
- “Oscar Mike” exterior badges to announce—in military jargon—that the special Jeep is “on the move”
- Exclusive 17-inch aluminum wheels, painted with a high-gloss Mineral Gray finish and affixed to the vehicle with bright lug nuts
- Bright insert accents for its body-color lower fascia
- A Dark Gray cloth interior, highlighted by a “Cubic” design pattern
- The automaker’s Uconnect 130 sound system
It’s also worth pointing out that a limited number of 2013 Jeep Wrangler Freedom Editions will be produced as well, with each featuring the same military-friendly style as the Patriot versions; the Wrangler Freedom Edition starts at $27,995, with the four-door Wrangler Unlimited variant available from $31,295.
