2012 Jeep Liberty: Video Road Test & Review
The Jeep Liberty is a compact sport-utility vehicle that maintains good off-road credibility while also turning in the kind of practical performance that young family shoppers are looking for. The four-door Jeep Liberty can seat up to five passengers and haul a 64 cubic feet of cargo with the rear row of accommodations out of the picture. The SUV also provides safety gear that includes side curtain airbags and forward airbags, as well as electronic stability control and traction control.
The Jeep Liberty comes exclusively with a 3.7-liter V-6 under the hood, and this motor has been tuned to provide 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. The small sport-utility vehicle packs an unusually high tow rating - 5,000 lbs - and it delivers fuel economy of 16-mpg city and 22-mpg highway. Four-wheel drive is available with the Liberty, and a four-speed automatic handles the gear shifting duties for the SUV.
The Jeep Liberty Sport (MSRP $23,395) represents the vehicle's base model, and it offers power windows and door locks, cruise control, air conditioning, keyless entry, 16-inch wheels, and a CD player. Moving up to the Liberty Limited (MSRP $26,760) adds features such as Bluetooth connectivity, a compass, fog lamps, a cargo cover, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof rails, and tinted windows, as well as heated leather seats with a memory feature. The Liberty Jet (MSRP $) includes parking sensors, a slick appearance package, and 20-inch rims. It is possible to install much of the equipment found with the Limited trim on the base model Liberty through the selection of the Popular Equipment, Driver's Convenience, and Comfort Seating packages.
