Pros: Incredible standard safety features
Cons: Fuel mileage
Advice: If you don't towWith two kids under the age of three in our household, we wanted something safe with seating for seven in a pinch. We really liked the Volvo XC70 for those reasons, but we didn't like the sticker price. The Commander offers safety features on par with the XC70 all for $15,000 less. Plus, passengers six and seven don't have to face backwards. Styling stands out where XC70 blends in, think about how you want to travel. Pay attention to the vault like sound of the slamming door.
Pros: Retro styling and 7 passenger ability
Cons: My honey sits to far from me. This SUV is wider than my 1996 Jimmy.
Advice: Shop around. There are deals to be found. Also get the V8, you will thank yourself later.I test drove one over a weekend and I was sold on this vehicle. I wasn't sure which affordable 7 passenger SUV I was going to go with. I looked into the Pathfinder, Highlander and the Durango. I wanted a truck based SUV that can tow, rode nice, was quite inside and still somewhat small. This Jeep was made for me. I drove both the V6 and the 4.7 V8. Need the V8.
Pros: Back up sensors, hand controls on stearing wheel for audio,Command View 3 sun roofs!
Advice: Shop around high volume dealers have a lot more room to haggle and deal on bottom line price.Awesome,I own a 2004 Grand Cherokee Freedom Edition, and just Purchased My new Commander,26U PKG,It is very nicely equipted for the money.I can not say one negative thing about my Commander,It is a joy to drive and people stop to ask about the Jeep,It turns heads! The handling, performance, headroom, features, are excellent! Appearance is Rugged,Macho, yet you can go to the Country Club and park next to A Land Rover or Navigater, and you fit right in. I enjoy driving the Commander,Its a SUV that you look for reasons to get it out of the garage.
Pros: Retro styling and 7 seat capacity
Advice: Unless you will pull a load consider the 6 cylinder for gas economyThe retro styling is eye catching and nostalgic. We have been stopped several times by drivers wanting to either see the Commander or ask about it's performance. The ride is surprisingly smooth and comfortable and the interior is veru user friendly and well thought out. I have owned a Jeep for 15 years now and the performance of the brand has been excellent. The standard features that comes with the base model is a great deal for the money. A really excellent SUV.
Cons: Rear view visibility
Advice: Opt for the V8I have been sick ever since trading my 2000 Cherokee for a sport sedan in '03. I had been looking to purchase another SUV; but nothing excited me until seeing the Commander in person in February. After one test drive I fell in love with this vehicle (powerful, roomy,Jeep Cherokee on steroids). Without question I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for the best 7 passenger SUV .
Pros: Retro style
Cons: Third row seat not suitable for large adults.
Advice: Get your gas cards. It's back!!! Jeep has brought their namesake back into the limelight. My last three vehciles were a ML 320 / Ford Expedition & Suburban, and I'll say that this is by far a much greater vehcile in many ways. More legroom & headroom than the others, better features inside and out, and ohhh that HEMI, what a rush. I think Mercedes may have had some design and manufacturing in this Jeep. Go drive one, and you'll get one. Watchout LR3 & H3 your in trouble, Jeep Commander has put the hemi down on you.
Cons: rear visibility
Advice: Just go ahead and buy it. You won't be sorry. The best buy for the buck in the marketThis is our 5th Jeep. Traded in a 05 GMC Canyon Crew cab and there is no comparison. I thought I had the world by the tail with a Grand Cherokee Overland but this Limited 4X4 takes it all.
