The 2015 Jeep Cherokee has made a major move on the monthly sale charts, leapfrogging the Nissan Rogue in one of the fastest-growing segments of the industry. Consider: Even as the 2015 Jeep Cherokee was making its first appearance among the crossover-sales top-five leaderboard, it had to do so while many of its rivals were setting October sales records of their own.

Here are the numbers:

  • Honda CR-V—29,257 sales, up 29.7 percent for an October record
  • Toyota RAV4—21,524 sales, up 22.4 percent
  • Ford Escape—24,919 sales, up 12 percent for an October record
  • Chevy Equinox—17,603 sales, up 2.6 percent
  • Jeep Cherokee—15,715 sales, up 24,744 percent for an October record
  • Nissan Rogue—14,685 sales, up 13.7 percent for an October record
  • Ford Explorer—14,455 sales, up 6.4 percent for an October record

And while it's true that the percentage gain for the 2015 Jeep Cherokee is a bit skewed, since the brand was just launching it in October 2013 and only delivered 579 units during that time, last month's total was the highest ever for the vehicle.

The 2015 Jeep Cherokee also led the Jeep brand in volume for the second month in a row, and again, this came despite plenty of record-setting rivals for the crown. The Jeep Wrangler, for example, earned its 10th straight monthly sales record, setting an all-time October benchmark with 13,665 sales and a 16 percent advance in volume. The Compass and Patriot extended their sales-record runs as well, with the former good for 4,301 deliveries (+3 percent) and the latter selling 6,524 units (+16.9 percent).

But closest to the 2015 Jeep Cherokee in volume actually was its bigger sibling, the 2015 Grand Cherokee that clocked in with 14,993 sales and enjoyed a 5.1 percent increase in demand.

Unsurprisingly, the Jeep division now has set sales records in every month of the year, capping off October with a 51.7 percent jump in volume, 55,198 deliveries and the highest monthly sales total of any Chrysler Group brand.
