Jaguar will now offer five years of free maintenance to all buyers of new 2011 Jaguar cars. This new extra level of cost-free maintenance, which is valid through the first five years of ownership or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first) is part of what Jaguar calls Jaguar Platinum Coverage and is offered alongside 24/7 roadside assistance and the company's bumper to bumper new car warranty. The British brand becomes the latest luxury car company to add value to its lineup by offering this type of cost-reducing perk. From Jaguar's standpoint, this new program is an important part of its strategy to move forward under new ownership and leave any questions about the reliability of its older vehicles in its past.
All new 2011 Jaguar cars will be provided with more than just free oil changes. The Jaguar Platinum Coverage program offers comprehensive coverage that takes care of all scheduled maintenance as well as every potential wear item on the vehicle. This includes items such as brake pads, discs and fluid, as well as windshield wipers. Given that on upper tier luxury cars these types of items can carry higher than usual price tags, the program undoubtedly offers significant savings for new Jaguar owners. The company has placed one restriction on its Jaguar Platinum Coverage initiative - it is only willing to cover the replacement of wear items based on factory specified intervals. Essentially, this means that hotfoots won't be able to hit the dealership four times a month after taking their new 2011 Jaguar cars to the racetrack for 50 laps of fun.
When deciding which new luxury car to buy, it can definitely save you money down the road if you aware of which automakers are prepared to offer you an extensive free maintenance period. Although Lexus and Audi have provided these types of programs in the past, it is no longer so easy to find a brand that will stand behind their products in the form of free maintenance. In fact, only BMW currently offers anything approaching Jaguar Platinum Coverage.
The BMW Ultimate Service program comes with every new BMW car and crossover. Although shorter than the Jaguar offering (four-years / 50,000 miles), it does provide a very similar level of coverage. All vehicle inspections and required maintenance, along with wear items such as brake parts, engine belts and of course wiper blades are covered by the program.
According to figures released by the brand, over a four year period the regular maintenance on a luxury vehicle costs between $233 and $1100, which makes both the BMW and Jaguar programs great bargains that should definitely factor in when deciding which premium automobile to buy.
