    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: AWD

Cons: single cup holder and so so FM Radio

Advice: Expensive to maintain. Get extended waranty

I love the car. Its my first Jag. Drives exceptionally well in snow. People stop and turn to look at the car. It is very attractive. I am a perfectionest and I take the car to Jaguar Service folks for any issues. So far the 2002 model has been good overall. Jaguar had one recall on the 2002 model in which they upgraded lots of things based on the 2003 model. The windsheild wipper nozzels leak which I am getting fixed now. My car has 27K miles on it and has been overall good. City gas milage is poor but hwy is OK. Make sure you put 92+ octane for better performance. I am thinking of trading for a 2004 or 05 model.

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: Handling

Cons: Radio, although the CD sounds better

    Advice: Go for the manual

I've had my 2.5 manual transmission for six months now, and it's been a gas. Lots of fun to drive - the all wheel drive is a plus and the handling is great. No problems at all.

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: Appearance

    Cons: One cup holder

Advice: Try it and you'll love it. Definitely a world class automobile

21k later and it purr's like a kitten as well as looking like a million bucks. Tight and trim is the operative words, add the AWD and it's purrrfect!! Finest automobile on the road...

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

Pros: handling especially on wet roads and the appearance

Cons: sound system not up to other luxury makes

Advice: From my research I found 2003 x-types seem to have fewer problems than 2002 models

I read reviews and spoke with Jaguar service people before buying my '03 2.5. I was advised that the '03 was built better and had fewer problems than the '02. I have about 3000 mi so far with no problems and great respect for this car. most fun i've had driving in years. The car is tight solid and seems well built. The only trip to service was a missing lense for light over the plate. Love the handling, the looks and feel of the interior. Granted the 3.0 is faster but I found the 2.5 is a good perfomer and I was able to add options that I otherwise could not afford. I am very happy with this car.

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: All Wheel Drive

Cons: lack of power in 2.5 liter.

Advice: Spend the extra money on the 3.0 liter

If you are considering the X-type spend the extra money for the 3.0 liter. The 2.5 while functional, it is really lacking in power. This is a very heavy vehicle and it is sluggish off the line. Trying to accelerate into traffic on city streets is scary sometimes. The all wheel drive and traction control are awesome in the winter! Xenon lights are a must as is the 2 stage seat warmer. The truck is massive. Overall a good car if you are not looking for sport. They are a tad expenisive but you pay the price for the name

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 3.0 (A5)

    Pros: Good looking car

Cons: From the outset, TOO MANY QUALITY PROBLEMS: broken gas gauge, nonexist FM radio reception, broken washer squirter.

Advice: Don't be fooled by any positive press you hear; don't buy this car!! Not only are there too many quality problems, but the service organization is unresponsive and uncaring (not only my dealer, but the corporate customer service organization too!)

Seemed to be a sporty drive, which I liked, but now I regret not having tested the FM radio which is totally disfunctional. For those of you who commute and/or love music in your car, this is a COMPLETE non-starter. I had 9 FM channels that I used to listen to all the time on my old used Lexus, with crystal clear reception, and they are ALL fuzzy and full of static now. Apparently, this is something Jaguar knows about and may do a recall or fix for, but no timeframe estimates yet. I want to spread the word about this so other people don't make the same mistake I did. Also, beware: VERY poor gas mileage (this thing is a guzzler!).

    2003 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: performance/4WD

    Cons: tricky clutch

Advice: Give the manual trans a chance!

Handles more like a sports car then a luxury sedan. Not as roomy inside as BMW 3's or C Class but equally peppy (even the 2.5). Definately like the sports package with 17 inch wheels and tighter suspension. Creature comforts get very expensive off base model. Good buy if you can afford the gas,
