Best car I ever owned(
Pros: Perfect paint job was bulletproof and aroma of fine leather
Cons: The fact that this style of car is no longer available from JaguarThis little AWD jag was the most appealing car I ever owned. Paint job unsurpassed.Styling superb. Connolly hides sumptuous and always smelled of fine leather. Fantastic interior lighting. Beautiful dash and woodwork. Ergonomic seats. Comfortable, secure ride. Service at dealership first rate. What more could you ask for? The chance to buy this same car new again. Sadly discontinued. Always turn my head if I see one pass by.
Pros: Radio Control on Steering Wheel, Power Window Controls
Cons: Interior Quality
Advice: STAY AWAYWhen we bought this vehicle 6 months ago I thought I got a GREAT deal. I was wrong. I had problems with it the 2nd day I had it. The AC unit caused the car to overheat and shutdown. The interior quality is VERY poor. Continouisly the vent protectors pop up and the inside handles unscrew by themselves. I expected luxury and got let down. Overall it's a beautiful car but the quality is not what you'd expect from Jaguar.
Pros: EXTERIOR APPEARANCE
Cons: THE RELIABILTY
Advice: NEVER BUY THIS CARI will never buy another Jag, again. It was the one of the worst decisions that I ever made. I bought the car on the looks and have paid the price for the last 3 1/2 years. The car was towed for overheating at less than one year old, and it was towed for overheating at less than three years old. The remote entry has been repaired 3 times and the doorlocks twice. The sunroof, seat belts and air conditioning has malfunctioned. We had the steel come thru on our tires because the tires were rubbing on the inside (three weeks after its' 30,000 mile check-up). At 40,000 miles the dealer replace a suspension bar, so now there is a vibration in the front end. I was told that the brakes were worn and the tires were out of balance. How strange, it was just in the check-up the week before and none of this was discovered then. The passenger door wouldn't open. The supposedly fixed it only to find that the next time out, it would open again. They fixed the door only to make the remote not work (this was going on for two weeks straight). To top it off, they took the car on an extended test drive to determine the vibration. After 100 miles and 1/2 take of gas (leaving it on the red for me) they said the wheels were out of balance. I think someone at the dealership drove it home because they seemed to be testing the CD player, as well. They left their cd in the player. They could only say 'You gave me permission for a test drive and we're sorry'. Corporate states that there is nothing they can do because the dealership has fixed everything requested. Unfortunately, a car that is 3 years old shouldn't need so many repairs. NEVER BUY A JAG - VERY UNRELIABLE.
Pros: Everything!!! To be specific:the look and the lines
Cons: The back ash tray should of been a vent
Advice: Make sure you buy an extended warranty and buy from Galpin JaguarFrom the very moment I sat in and drove this wonderful car, I said to myself 'there is NO way you can afford this'. Well, I was wrong!!! Not only could I afford to lease it, I'm about to buy my very first car after leasing 5 automobiles!!! There is nothing and I mean NOTHING that compares to this car. The looks are fabulous, the drive is great, and the sound system is out of this world. The dealership has been the best, though. Galpin Jaguar has made me a client FOR LIFE. When serviced, I ALWAYS get a Jaguar loaner, much to the astonishment of my BMW and Audi friends. Oh, not to be conceided, but I always love when someone asks 'what do you drive?' I tell them a Ford. Thay are quite impresses when they get in. Oh...people with trunk problems:Do not slam the trunk!!! Casually CLOSE the trunk. I have not had ONE problem with the trunk, and I've had my Jag. for 3 1/2 years. People: Take good care of your babies.
Pros: Overalll performance, you step on the gas it goes.
Cons: Spring too stiffly and overdampended, doesn't feel European, like my old Sterling
Advice: In the 2.5 go with the stick if you can find oneI have had my X type for a bit over a year. I just completed a cross country journey from near DC to Seattle and return. In over 8,500 miles, including numerous side trips I averaged over 29 miles per gallon, so a pox on those who say this thing is a gas hog. The large trunk proved handy, as it was filled with luggage and fishing gear. If you are contemplating a 2.5 Liter X-Type hold out for the stick. The performance is better than the automatic, and certainly better than the Outback Limited I replaced. A final note, 40,000 mile scheduled maintenance was due in Seattle and the local dealer was helpful and able to squeeze me in. The experiences with Laurel Jaguar, the selling dealer, and Jaguar of Seattle have been wonderful.
Pros: Smooth and quiet ride.
Advice: Don't.In less than 30,000 miles the following have been replaced. Trunk latch, drive shaft, shift lever, shift gate, drive shaft (again!), all dashboard instruments and automatic transmission. While the car is a pleasure to drive and the dealer has been very accommodating the reliability is obviously terrible and this is the first and last Jaguar for me.
Advice: DO NOT BUY/LEASE the Germans do it better.Having done my research on various vehicles,I took the chance and leased an X Type....Big Mistake...... The AWD, gas mileage and handling are decent but the quality of the vehicle is dreadful. New gearbox, fuel tank, alternator, various pumps & valves for fuel system, headlamps blown (3rd set) seats rock, sunroof has a mind of its own, failed parking brake, trunk lock malfunction...the list goes on and on ...Check out other customer reviews, some of the problems I have encountered (gearbox, fueltank)are not exclusive to my vehicle..Badly made in the UK
