2002 Jaguar X-Type - 3.0L (A5)
Pros: Radio Control on Steering Wheel, Power Window Controls
Cons: Interior Quality
Advice: STAY AWAYWhen we bought this vehicle 6 months ago I thought I got a GREAT deal. I was wrong. I had problems with it the 2nd day I had it. The AC unit caused the car to overheat and shutdown. The interior quality is VERY poor. Continouisly the vent protectors pop up and the inside handles unscrew by themselves. I expected luxury and got let down. Overall it's a beautiful car but the quality is not what you'd expect from Jaguar.
2007 Jaguar XK - Convertible
Cons: integrated NAV
Advice: use the nav/audio/hvac while driving--switch back and forth from Nav to turn heat or a/c on and off--consider whether this will bother you while driving in every day trafficHave owned the 07 Jag conv. for 2 weeks now. Classy, very nice driving car--improvement in handling over prior model is amazing--no cowl shake--feels like solid piece of aluminum--paddle shifters change gears amazingly fast. But in my opinion, the entire experience is severely marred by irritation of integrated NAV/audio/hvac--must go through minimum 3 screens just to turn heat or a/c on or off--extremely irritating and unsafe to have to look at screen so long while driving--also cannot see screen in sun--probably would not buy car again b/c of this---too bad, b/c otherwise is a truly fantastic car.
2002 Jaguar S-Type - 3.0L V6
Pros: Reverse sensors.
Cons: JAGUAR...It should have had comfortable heated seats & woodgrain on the entire dash area.
Advice: Have it completely checked out by a licensed Jaguar tech if it's used. This was my ideal dream car. I've owned several other luxury cars and I have to be honest...this car looks beautiful, it handles well BUT it should have been more luxury on the inside. I wasn't impressed with the normal interior. It's not roomy and there is very little storage space inside...I love it but I can't compare it to my Lexus LS400 or my Infiniti Q45T. I bought it anyway because it's still a great car and I love the whole exterior look of it...
2006 Jaguar X-Type - Sedan
Pros: The cat on the hood
Cons: interior comfort and overall quality.
Advice: Don't buy or lease this thing!I am suing under the lemon law. Need I say anything else? Been to service 6 times in 18 months.
2003 Jaguar S-Type - 3.0L V6 (M5)
Pros: beautiful interior
Cons: cup holders in front are hard to reach
Advice: great price on used buy one you'll love itlots of power even with 3.0 liter beautiful car head turner. very quiet
2005 Jaguar XK8 - Convertible
Pros: looks and smooth engine and handling
Cons: foot room/ comfort level - would be better if the seats went back another 2 inches
Advice: If you are looking for a coupe hardtop, plan on buying it usedI have a 76 XJ12L. I love the way it drives. Have also been driving Nissan Zs since 73. Now have 2 86' 300 Zs with 250 K miles on each. First stop to look for their replacement was the JAG dealer. I was shocked to find that in the XK8 there is so little foot room down by the pedals that I could not move my foot (size 10 1/2) from the gas to the brake without it getting hung up. Major safety issue, obviously. I almost did not want to drive it off the lot. It drove wonderfully, however the foot space problem presisted even after driving it for a while. Only problem I had with the handling with the automatic trans shifted gears at a way way to low RPM. If you have driven sticks for as long as I have, that was a noticable problem.THe red line on the Jag was 6500 and it was shifting around 3000. When I told the saleman about this he said that was normal. When I started shifting manually and showed him what the car could really do when you pushed the RPMs, he turned slate white. He obviously had not seen the car driven to the end of the envelope. Even with the trans issue I would buy this car if there was more foot room. I sat in a new XK8L after this test drive and that model did not have the foot space problem, but I already have a 'limo' XJ12 so would not consider that as a replacement for my Zs. This is a wonderful car and I would strongly recommend it to anyone (with small feet). One other disappointing fact which I should mention is that the only XJ8 model they have available brnad new is the convertable. If you want a brand new coupe hard top they are telling you to forget it unless you want to want until 2007. (This review was done in Oct 05. ) I would not buy the convertable - there is no roll bar at all, and the theft hazard is too much for me. However, with the top up the car did drive as if it was a hard top -no extra noise even at 70 mph
2002 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5L (M5)
Pros: EXTERIOR APPEARANCE
Cons: THE RELIABILTY
Advice: NEVER BUY THIS CARI will never buy another Jag, again. It was the one of the worst decisions that I ever made. I bought the car on the looks and have paid the price for the last 3 1/2 years. The car was towed for overheating at less than one year old, and it was towed for overheating at less than three years old. The remote entry has been repaired 3 times and the doorlocks twice. The sunroof, seat belts and air conditioning has malfunctioned. We had the steel come thru on our tires because the tires were rubbing on the inside (three weeks after its' 30,000 mile check-up). At 40,000 miles the dealer replace a suspension bar, so now there is a vibration in the front end. I was told that the brakes were worn and the tires were out of balance. How strange, it was just in the check-up the week before and none of this was discovered then. The passenger door wouldn't open. The supposedly fixed it only to find that the next time out, it would open again. They fixed the door only to make the remote not work (this was going on for two weeks straight). To top it off, they took the car on an extended test drive to determine the vibration. After 100 miles and 1/2 take of gas (leaving it on the red for me) they said the wheels were out of balance. I think someone at the dealership drove it home because they seemed to be testing the CD player, as well. They left their cd in the player. They could only say 'You gave me permission for a test drive and we're sorry'. Corporate states that there is nothing they can do because the dealership has fixed everything requested. Unfortunately, a car that is 3 years old shouldn't need so many repairs. NEVER BUY A JAG - VERY UNRELIABLE.
