2002 Isuzu Axiom - XS 4x4
Pros: 'Torque on Demand' and the low range
Cons: Some of the power window switches don't light up.
Advice: If it fits your needs you can't beat the quality for the price.
After reading every review I could find on the Axiom comparing them with just about every other small SUV for at least a year, I finaly test drove one. Then I bought one. All the negatives mentioned in about 50% of the reviews are almost not worth mentioning. Nothing can touch it in pricing, and it still has a real low range transfer case! Performance is outstanding. -
2002 Isuzu Rodeo - S (M5) 4x4
Pros: 4WD, Hight Rims Tires wide steering wheel rotation
Cons: No Sun Roof
Advice: A good amount of SUV for the money
Fun and exhilarating at first but day to day commute sucks. -
2002 Isuzu Rodeo - LS (A4) 4x4

Disappointing. poor pickup, rough ride and vibration at high speed, very poor gas mileage -
2002 Isuzu Axiom - XS 4x4
Pros: Very quiet ride
Cons: Comfort setting for suspension is only good for the highway
Advice: Buy it, you will not be disappointed. Excellent warranty
New in June 2002. One long trip of 2000 plus miles, and almost 3500 overall. I read all the complaints regarding truck like ride, low gas mileage, etc. Bull, this is a vehicle built on a truck chassis, so yes it does not ride like a car. However, it is well mannered and not really trucklike in its ride. I wanted something with all wheel drive and a low range for the dirt roads of the southwest where I like to vacation. This is the quietest car I have owned. Planned to use it as my service truck, but now is the preferred car for everything but business. The RAV4 I own is now the service truck. MPG -- a solid 20 mpg average on the trip, 18 around town. Even my mechanic was impressed when he had it up on the lift, said it had great fit and finish and showed obvious quality control. Cold weather now and I assure you the heated leather seats are great. Yes, the dealer will deal --- got mine for 24,500. Would I buy it again --- oh, yes. -
2002 Isuzu Axiom - XS 4x4
Pros: EVERYTHING
Cons: REAR SUSPENSION WITH FULL LOAD ( BOUNCY )
Advice: JUST BUY IT
I love this vehicle. I am a real estate agent and have never heard a complaint about comfort. Customers get in and think they are in a 40 thousand plus SUV. I get comments ( positive ) every where I go in this. I got rid of a Lexus GS 300 and bought this and I am very happy. I would like to see the rear suspension a little more refined though. I find myself putting it in sport mode when I have a full load. -
2002 Isuzu Rodeo - LS (A4) 4x4
Pros: Jamming 6 CD in-dash CD Player
Cons: Really stiff lumbar support in power adjustable seat. Can't seem to adjust it to 'perfect' comfort.
Advice: Get the automatic tranny, makes 4WD driving much easier.
Rides really well for it's weight. I take it on the beach in the Outer Banks regularly and have never gotten stuck. Even pulled other folks out of the soft sand a couple of times. Runs great, smooth ride on the highway and really quiet compared to the 2001 Rodeo Sport the wife drives. Seems to have good fit and finish. I definately think it's a bargain at the price. -
2002 Isuzu Rodeo - LS 3.2L V6 (A4) 4x2
Pros: Overall interior room
Cons: Lack of quick acceleration
Advice: Make sure your dealer lets you REALLY test drive it.
So far, I am still getting used to the size vs. my 1997 Maxima. But my initial impressions (I have owned it for about 3 days) are great. Extremely comfortable, roomy, great looking. I still need to get used to the power, or the lack thereof compared to my less heavy Max (I already miss that car), but I think I am going to really enjoy my new Rodeo. Especially at the price I got it for (just a hair over $20K)
