With the all-new Infiniti JX already on hand to help re-energize the brand’s crossover lineup, Nissan’s lux division also is improving on its Infiniti FX and Infiniti EX entries by deploying a new 3.7-liter V6 engine in both. Naturally, the nomenclature has been adjusted accordingly, so the 2013 FX37 will go on sale in this country in July, with the 2013 EX37 scheduled for an August debut.

The engine packs plenty of cutting-edge technologies, including variable valve timing, an advanced intake setup, resin-coated pistons and iridium spark plugs, and it’s mated in both crossovers to Infiniti’s seven-speed automatic transmission. Infiniti says the new powerplant will make 325 hp, representing a 28 hp jump in the EX and an increase of 22 hp in the FX. The brand has yet to release torque numbers, but the output is likely to be in the 260 to 270 lb-ft range, as that’s about what the engine delivers when tuned for the 328-hp Infiniti G37.

More details will be provided in the near future, but for now, you can read on to learn a bit more about what the new model year brings for the 2013 Infiniti EX and 2013 Infiniti FX.

2013 Infiniti FX37

The sleekly designed Infiniti FX had received a noticeable refreshing for the 2012 model year, so its most recent upgrade is essentially limited to its bigger engine—and a new Limited Edition model that’s based on the FX37 with the brand’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system. In the mix here are features like 21-inch 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with a sophisticated dark finish, set off by matching dark-tinted headlights and roof rails. Aluminum pedal accents also have been added inside, as have a standard Infiniti hard-drive-based navigation system and innovative Around View monitor, the latter of which is now available with a moving-object detection alert. The 2013 FX Limited Edition will only be offered with a Moonlight White exterior and a Graphite cabin.

Then, carrying over from the current FX will be standard and available content including:

  • An enthusiastic suspension with a double-wishbone setup in the front and a multi-link system in the rear, and technologies such as Continuous Damping Control and Rear Active Steer
  • 21-inch super-lightweight aluminum wheels
  • Sport seating
  • An 11-speaker premium audio system developed by Bose
  • Intelligent Cruise Control
  • Advance Climate Control with a grape polyphenol filter and Plasmacluster air purifier that can significantly reduce airborne allergens and germs from the FX cabin
  • A rear-seat dual-monitor DVD entertainment system

2013 Infiniti EX37

As is the case with the Infiniti FX, the EX pretty much stands pat for the new model year except for its new engine, but it still brings plenty to the premium crossover party. And again, driver-oriented technologies lead the way, with assistance available from Infiniti’s Around View Monitor, Lane Departure Prevention system, Intelligent Cruise Control with Distance Control Assist, and Intelligent Brake Assist with Forward Collision Warning.

The EX also adds in a strong dose of crossover-style versatility, courtesy of power-folding rear seats that can create a flat load floor in the cargo area with a single button push. Yet at the same time, it provides the luxury touches one expects from any Infiniti vehicle, with highlights that include front seats with all the style and fit of custom-tailored garments. There’s also a special Journey edition EX, available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, that offers owners an ideal mix of Infiniti’s most popular comfort and performance advantages, including:

  • Heated front seats and power-adjustable outside mirrors
  • Interior accents created from real Maple wood
  • A power moonroof with tinted glass
  • A power-adjustable steering-wheel column
  • An auto-dimming inside mirror
  • Bluetooth Hands-free phone system
