Back in 1989, Nissan launched its luxury Infiniti brand, and to celebrate its 20th year in existence it will be introducing limited edition versions of the 2010 G37. Infiniti's initial lineup for the 1990 model year included the M30 luxury sport coupe and the Q45 flagship sedan, but it has now grown to five nameplates including the three different body styles of the G. The 2010 Infiniti G37 Anniversary Edition lineup includes the sedan, coupe and convertible, and each model will receive limited number of the special-edition models with just 350 sedans, 200 coupes and 200 convertibles being produced.
With such limited production numbers, Infiniti made sure each car was worthy of celebrating this milestone anniversary by adding exclusivity along with a uniquely sporty appearance, better handling and a more luxurious and stylish interior. Starting with the G37 Sedan Journey, G37x AWD, G37 Coupe Journey and G37 Convertible, each car has a starting MSRP much higher than the base car, but well worth the special edition status along with the added standard features. The starting prices for the 2010 Infiniti G37 Anniversary Edition are: Sedan $43,350, Sedan AWD $43,550, Coupe $50,550 and Convertible $54,900. These are increases from $34,450, $36,050, $37,500 and $46, 950, respectively.
'These unique and very limited editions represent what Infiniti is all about - Inspired Performance,'? said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. 'We wanted to ensure that the G Anniversary Editions are the sportiest and most distinctive Infinitis offered.'?
Building on the G37's unique exterior styling, Infiniti wanted to make sure that each Anniversary Edition received improved, distinctive styling. All of the Anniversary Edition G37 models will come in a unique Graphite Shadow exterior color with exclusive nine-spoke aluminum alloy wheels and a signature grille that features Midnight Black slots which really help the Infiniti logo stand out. The special edition package will receive a more aggressive look with a unique front fascia and chin spoiler on all models, a rear spoiler on the Sedans and Coupe and sport side sills on the Coupe and Convertible. Further setting the sportier model apart from the others, the Coupe will add a unique rear fascia design as well.
For improved handling, the rear-wheel drive Anniversary Edition G37 Sedan and Coupe will be the only G37 models to offer Infiniti's 4-Wheel Active Steer system, and all Sedans and Coupe models will each come standard with the Sport Package. The Sport Package includes a limited slip differential, sport-tuned suspension and steering, W-rated summer tires and sport brakes with upgraded front and rear discs and calipers.
Inside, the Anniversary Edition cars will benefit from standard additions of the Sport Package including the sport bucket front seats, but they will stand out further thanks to Monaco Red Leather. Accenting the red leather interior, the Coupe and Convertible will get Maple wood cabin accents, while the Sedan and Sedan AWD will feature aluminum trim. To make up for the lack of other added features, the Convertible will be the only model to come standard with climate-controlled front seats.
All of these Anniversary Edition upgrades come in addition to the multitude of changes Infiniti has already given the G37 for 2010. Exterior updates were made to the Sedan to give it a more unique appearance with a new front fascia, headlamps and fog lights that are now mounted in the lower air intakes. Changes inside include a new center console design and instrument cluster layout and a host of updated technology options including the Navigation Package.
Regular options such as the Premium and Navigation Packages will continue to be offered on all G37 Anniversary Edition models which go on sale in April 2010.
