2014 Hyundai Veloster Shows Some RE:FLEX Action

The second RE-modeled version of Hyundai's distinctive compact hatch is now on sale, with the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX starting at $21,650 and ending after a limited production run of 3,000 units. Much like its predecessor, the Veloster RE:MIX, the new RE:FLEX was designed to meet a growing demand from today's drivers. As explained by Scott Margason, director of product planning for Hyundai Motor America: “Compact sporty customers are often looking for limited-edition models with even sportier styling. The new Veloster RE:FLEX not only delivers, but the highly prized limited editions are equipped with additional unique features and exclusive colors that will make proud owners boldly stand out in the crowd.”

Thus, key upgrades for the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX include an available Ice Pearl exterior finish that will be reserved solely for RE:FLEX models, as well as a premium lighting package that combines LED headlight accents, LED taillights and LED-illuminated door sills. The RE:FLEX then rolls on 18-inch alloy wheels, while also wearing chrome exterior trim and badges. In the cabin, owners will enjoy leather appointments in either black or red, and, because the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX also comes standard with all the "regular" Style Package enhancements (except for a panoramic sunroof), an eight-speaker Dimension audio system will be onboard to provide the soundtrack.

Owners should note, however, that the 2014 Hyundai Veloster RE:FLEX only will be offered in one powertrain configuration, uniting the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with the automaker's six-speed "EcoShift" dual-clutch automatic transmission, for 138 hp, 123 lb.-ft. of torque and an EPA line of 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway/28 mpg combined.
