    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - Base (M5)

Pros: The intelligent design features like lighted ignition ring, auto-open moon roof and gorgeous exterior lines.

Cons: There's nothing onboard to indicate the alarm is armed (blinking LED, etc.).

Advice: There are still very few on the road so the dealers are falling all over themselves to sell them. Do your research and you'll get a killer deal.

I fell in love with the Tiburon the first time I saw it, which made the purchase easier, especially once I'd driven it. Nothing in the test drive changed my mind about the vehicle - it handled like a true sports car, even on vacation, loaded up with three people and a ton of luggage - I put 2800 miles on it the first two weeks I owned it and it performed like a champ. Not only is it the best looking car in its class, but the interior is smartly designed and the warranty is unbeatable - 10 years on the powertrain, five on everything else. I drove the V6 and the 4-cylinder and decided that the extra 40 horses wasn't worth the extra $1500 - the four still has all the pep and pickup I could want and the handling is the same in either car. The back seat is tight for adults but my 11-year-old son had plenty of room. Still, this really is no family car, but the best solution to a mid-life crisis I can think of! Enjoy - it's a gem.

    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - GT V6 (M5)

    Pros: 6-Speed GT

    Cons: Nothing

    Advice: Buy the Tiburon GT

Car Model: GT 2.7L V6 6-Spd The first time I saw the Tiburon was when I was looking for a new car to take to college. I wanted a car that got ok fuel milege, good looks, high proformance, a good warranty and a under 20k price tag. The Hyundai Tiburon matched what I wanted. With it's sleek look, I think it looks better than the Toyota Celica, Mitshubishi Eclipse and Acura RSX. The Tiburon is without a doubt is the best looking. The Warranty is Great: 10 yr. 100k on Powertrain-thats a killer warranty period. Not to mention all the rest of their warranty. The Proformance of the car is great. It puts down most of the competition stock, you add another $1500 to a GT-6spd in a Cold Air, Chip and Exhaust and it will be pushing over 200 hp and 200 lbs. of Torque and will put down even more competition. Stock the Tibby puts out 171HP and 181 Lbs. of torque. Only this car and the Nissan Spec-v put out that kind of Torque. The Fuel milege is estimated at 18/26 city/highway, it should increase 1-3 miles after you put on a couple thousand. The milege is reasonable given the weight and engine size. The handling of the Tiburon is Great. It weighs about 3050 lbs. empty and sticks on the asphalt around corners. It's Mcpherson Sport-Tuned suspension, 17-inch alloys, michelin tires and a nice spoiler adds an even better feel to the highway. The Interior of the Tiburon is very attractive as with the rest of the car. It is a little plain in terms of color, everything is black but you have the freedom to take parts off and paint them. The inside looks very good compared to other cars. The Hyundai Tiburon is a killer sports car for under 20k and you can get the most maxed out model for under 20k, the Dealer will come down on the price. This Car is a sweet deal and is getting the respect and reputation quickly as it out does the competition. The Tiburon so far is flawless and the best deal out on the market.

    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - GT V6 (M5)

Pros: Beautifully Sculpted, Great Value and Warranty, Handling

Cons: Power, Pedals, 6-sp Shifting - Wanted ABS without Sunroof, big hassle that

Advice: Make sure you get EXACTLY what you want! You'll be the one paying the monthly dues. Make sure the little quirks won't develope to be cancerous - for me, it'll probably be the I4 with 5sp and then Turbo it! Hehe

Test Drive Only! The Good Stuff: Wow, needless to say, I was very impressed with the GT-V6, 6-sp. Even though it was a relatively short test drive, I pushed it a bit through freeway straights, on-ramps and off-ramps- VERY flat and minimal body roll through turns. I had a big grin on my face for that. The quality of the car is on the same level as Toyota or Honda. Interior design is stark, but I like that- simple and efficient. At freeway speeds, it's SOLID! Road noise is fair and ride is good- then again, I'm 23 and enjoy feeling the road. And man, love the Leather Seats! The Negatives: I'd expected 181hp to be faster than that. I guess I went in with too high of expectations. Don't get me wrong, it was quick but, my 'butt-dyno' didn't feel much. Maybe it was too smooth? Power delivery felt so-so. The shifting felt weird. At times, I wasn't sure of what gear I'm in but, somehow always seemed to in the right gear anyway . . . I couldn't find Reverse- sue me, it was a test drive! :) The aluminum pedals offer a nice 'tuner' touch but, for me, average Joe shoe size 10, I felt the brake and gas are too far apart; can't do heel-toe technique too easily. The clutch pedal was too soft for my taste and the gas pedal was too firm. Final Word: GREAT value, bang/buck ratio. Did I mention how BEAUTIFUL the car is in person? Excellent aftermarket following. Unbeatable warranty. Definetly test drive the GT-V6 in manaul (5-6sp). Just don't expect TOO much from the engine, and you'll be surprised.

    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - GT V6 (M5)

    Pros: Exterior styling, price

Cons: Look of the interior, engine was nothing special

Advice: Good value, but definitely get the V6. If can afford the RSX, it's a better car and value.

This is a decent car for the money. I wouldn't consider it a real sports car, but if you want something sporty for a good price this is good. I had a '99 Tiburon and never had a problem with it. The interior of the '03 is a little stark for my taste, and has a cheap feel to it. And why does it come standard with performance tires? Chances are if you are buying this car, you don't have a lot of cash for snow tires, which you would need in the northern half of the country.

    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - GT V6 (M5)

Pros: Acceleration, handling, quality, great stereo.

Cons: Sunroof is too close to my head; Hyundai should delete back seat.

Advice: Look over the competition; THEN you'll get a Tib 6 speed!

AWESOME!!! I've had my 6 speed V6 Tib for a month now and absolutely love it. This Tib is so much FUN TO DRIVE you can't believe it. The car turns heads everywhere. Wish I had more chances to open it up and see what it will really do. Nevertheless it is a thrill to drive even in traffic. Wonderful stereo; and the workmanship throughout is first-rate. Forget about the bad old days of the cheap Hyundai Excel; this Tib will soon join the ranks of the best quality nameplates in its class (i.e. Acura RSX, Toyoya Celica, and will even chase the exalted new Nissan 350Z.) So rush to your Hyundai dealer and take a test drive - try especially the 6 speed.

    2003 Hyundai Tiburon - GT V6 (M5)

    Pros: Accelleration and Handling

Cons: Tiny backseat. Forget about using it.

Advice: Do not drive it if you can't buy it. I am still dreaming about it.

Simply put, I fell in love. The GT V6 had plenty of horses and was nimble and responsive. My first time behind the wheel was like coming home. Very easy to drive and to drive fast. Doggone sharp too. I bought the Honda but have had longings for the Hyundai every day since. I think the Tiburon will be my next car. Had a friend with me on the test drive and she has talked about that car a lot too. I want it. I want it. And I am 31. Too old to drool like this.
