It looks like the all-new 2015 Hyundai Sonata has picked up right where the previous-generation left off, delivering a strong combination of style, value and monthly sales. The latest evidence comes from the August leaderboards, which show the 2015 Hyundai Sonata with 21,092 deliveries last month and a fairly steep 24.7 percent jump in volume. To put that mark into context, the overall industry growth rate for August was 5.5 percent, and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata also turned up the volume faster than better-selling rivals like the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion.

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata further helped spark a new August sales record for the brand as a whole. With 70,003 delivers—representing a 5.9 percent increase over August 2013—Hyundai surpassed 70,000 monthly sales for just the second time since it began selling vehicles in this country. And by already topping 500,000 sales on a year-to-date basis, the brand reached that milestone in record time as well.

Also showcasing a notably strong August performance was the Hyundai crossover team. After winning its segment in both the 2014 Strategic Vision Total Quality Awards and the 2014 AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, the compact 2015 Tucson turned in a 35 percent sales jump in August, on the strength of 5,266 deliveries. The bigger Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport then combined for 9,302 sales last month and a volume increase of 15 percent.

Finally, Hyundai indicated that the recently restyled Genesis sedan continued to enjoy brisk demand, backed by a 15 percent improvement in August volume; however, the company doesn't break out the Genesis sedan numbers from those of the coupe, and the two Genesi together tallied 3,029 sales last month and a 2.3 percent volume bump.

The party line from Bob Pradzinski, vice president of national sales at Hyundai Motor America: “Sales continued to gain momentum as the month progressed and we finished the Labor Day holiday weekend strong. The all-new Sonata, Genesis and our CUVs played a big role in helping us score a record August.”
