    2003 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

Pros: huge trunk and the look of the dash

Cons: When the seat is close to the front for short driver

Advice: Make sure that there have been no additional reports of steering wheel welds breaking.

Overall, I have been delighted with my 2003 Sonata. I have had a couple of small problems. One being the chrome in the interior has started to peal and is very sharp to the hand on the door handles. I have had one major problem with the car: the steering wheel welds connecting the wheel to the steering column came loose. Fortunately, I was not driving it at the time. I have reported this to the Hyundai Corporation and they are supposed to be investigating and making necessary changes.

    2003 Hyundai Sonata - LX (M5)

Pros: I can't pick just one

    Cons: Front seat cup holders

Advice: Buy the top of the line model - price still great - you'll love the leather!

Close to 60,000 miles without ANY problem! Love everything about it except the front seat cup holders. A joy to drive or ride in. Great at highspeed crash evasion and braking, able to merge or pass easily in worst of traffic, solid and stable at triple digit speeds! A few more horses and it would run with the high dollar Euro sports sedans!

    2003 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

    Pros: Great Styling and looks

Cons: MPG was not very good in the city and acceptable on the highway

Advice: This is a must test drive vehicle and highly competitive against Accord and Camry

My 2003 Sonata GLS V6 drives and handles like a dream and glides along the highway. The turning radius on this car never ceases to amaze me. Turns like a sports car and I never hit a curb. I see the best engine performance at the higher end of the speed band when you are already going 65 and need to punch it to 85, it really moves out. Breaking is excellent. Very solid and stable on the road - not loosey-goosey. Quality and quiet interior. Original Michelin tires were excellent in snow and rain and replaced with Goodyear Assurance ComfortTreds -- excellent high quality replacement tires for this car. Car is packed with smart features throughout. Good solid feel and performance overall. Looks like a Jaguar and feels good to. No reliability problems and stays out of the shop. Great stardard warranty which can be extended even longer.

    2003 Hyundai Sonata - LX (M5)

    Pros: Luxury Styling of Exterior

Cons: Short Seats - No thigh Support

Advice: Get the LX, if you can. The upgrades are worth the extra $1500 or so.

The Sonata is a solid V6 sedan that performs well for anyone looking for standard power and minimum pizazz! The average driver will like it - race enthusiast... stay away. The features are beautiful and make you feel like you're sitting in a luxury BMW, Benz, or Lexus! The woodgrain, which many think looks cheap, is very nice and the leather seats and steering wheel add a nice classy touch. The bonuses, like climate control, power seat adjustments, sunroof, fog lights, and garage door opener are a great bang for your buck! You can't find an Accord or Camry with this great look and all these features for less than $20k.

    2003 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

Pros: Over-all look and handling of the car.

Cons: Sound system in base model could be better.

Advice: Know the differences between the base model and the GLS. If you can

Great value for the money. Second Hyundai I've owned (2000 Elantra was the 1st - bought at the end of 1999, so drive for four years). I traveled back to the dealership I originally bought from in Ocala, FL. Would recommend them over the dealership 'Universal Nissan / Hyundai', which tried to wheel and deal to their advantage.
