    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

    Pros: The exterior look

    Cons: The brakes

Advice: Get the 02-05 as the 06 & 07's have a cheap feeling in side

I bought this car new in Nov. 2002. It is the most comfotable vehicle I have ever owned. The ride & road grip are great. The only problem I have ever had is the braking system. The rotors warped in less than 14,000 miles & the dealer relaced pads & turned rotors as a courtesy. However the rotors warped even sooner after being turned. I am going to upgraded to racing rotors & ceramic pads which are warranted for 24,000 miles. This is a very elegant & comfortable car for the average working man that can not afford a BMW or Lexus. 5* rating from me.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

    Pros: THE SHIFTRONIC FEATURE

    Cons: ABS IS NOT STANDARD

Advice: WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE DISCOUNTED FOR THE END OF THE YEAR.

LOOKS ELEGANT! RIDES VERY SMOOTHLY LIKE A LUXURY CAR & CORNERS EXTREMELY TIGHTLY. HAS A NEAT FEATURE CALLED 'SHIFTRONIC' WHICH ENABLES THE CAR TO BE DRIVEN AS EITHER AN AUTOMATIC OR A STICK.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

Pros: The look of a very expensive import!

Cons: If there was a feature, I haven't found it yet!

Advice: Prepare to be impressed, you have to test drive this car!

Prepare to be impressed! I can honestly say that I was fully prepared for the whole test drive to be a 'mediocre' experience at best. What I found was a very affordable sedan that handles like a dream! It hugs the road, smoothe ride quiet and comfortable! Generous cargo space, beautiful interior detail. Makes you feel like you are truly in a luxury sedan. I couldn't get over the amount of solid value after comparing and test driving the Camry, which was thousands more. Have never owned a foriegn car but the value and warranty can't be beat! Styling of the body is close to the Jaguar...very pleasing on the eyes. I can't say enough, except I am planning on the Sonata being my next car!

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - LX (M5)

    Pros: Styling and Keyless entry

Cons: cruise control on/off button & shift from 1st to 2nd gear

Advice: test drive this one after test driving everything else

I still can't believe I am a Hyundai owner. But once you drive the V6 and see how much it costs and then compare it to Honda and Toyota you'll be in my shoes. I don't regret my choice. A friend of mine has a 2000 Sonata V6 and told me to look at the 2002. I drove his 2000 and was impressed. I was looking at Honda's and Toyota's and just couldn't afford them. I predict that Hyundai's are not going to be in the price class they are in much longer. Get one before everyone else jumps on the band wagon. Only thing I don't like is the shift from 1st to 2nd gear. Feels like it jerks to hard at time and other times it is just fine. Maybe its just mine. I haven't read anyone else write about this problem. Other then that I am 100% happy.

Advice: Test drive a V-6 prior to buying another vehicle. Check out the excellent warranty and cost compared to other models.

    2002 Hyundai Sonata - GLS (M5)

    Pros: Styling

Cons: Cruise Control Switch - would also like a

Advice: Features for the money in combo with the warranty is tough to beat.

My 'nits' to pick - turning the cruise control on is a pain, the switch isn't in a very convenient area. - I'm 6'1' and my head grazes the roof due to the sunroof. Overall though, I really like the car. We loved the styling (I've noticed heads turning), the warranty can't be beat, and Arrow Hyundai in suburban Milwaukee was great. The guys at Amato Hyundai on the north side wouldn't even give me a price when I was shopping...'come back when you're serious' (I don't think so). Handling is good, CD player sounds good, I really like the hinges on the trunk and gas cylinders on the hood (no prop rod). Doors close with a nice 'thunk'. This is my first import and I'm very pleased.
