Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: steering wheel mounted controls and the blue instrument lighting.
Cons: the view out the rear window isn't very big.
Advice: It's a great car for the price, the standard features blow the other cars in the same segment out of the water. The car drives great, very smooth, the handling is very agile too. At first the speedometer was blocked by the steering wheel, but the steering wheel is adjustable. I like the little area on the front door arm rests where I can put my cell phone. The power retention feature is quite nice too, I can close my car windows even after I take my keys out already. I test drove this car and the 2007 Nissan Sentra, I definitely prefer the regular transmission over the Sentra's CVT. Being able to listen to my CD's starting from when I last left it is nice too.
Pros: Room in the back seat---fits adults very nice
Advice: If you are in the market for a good work car or even 1st family car I would take a hard look at this vehicle.I bought a Elantra GT for my daughter in 03--has over 55000 on it and not a bit of trouble. When my wife's van was totaled in an accident we decided to go to a smaller yet safe small car. I wanted a 2 yr old Honda but couldn't get folks to come down to my price range, so I started looking at Hundai and loved the new look of the Elantra. From the side it looks like the small Mercedes. Just finished off my first tank of gas--all around town driving to and from work and received 25 MPG--and I don't drive very conserative either. It zips around and can compete with the big boys at any speed.
Pros: Overall value, warranty, gas mileage, comfort and quiet.
Cons: Rear antenna old fashioned and window washer dispensers.
Advice: Do your shopping - but take a hard look at this great car.Overall great value! The more I drive it the better I like it. Comfortable, quiet, great interior, all the performance I need for communting and highway driving. Handling is great for city and highway.I drove both the Honda Civic LX and Mazda M3 I-Touring. I liked the M3's performance and looks but not the safety features and was too small inside. I liked the Civic's reputation, and slighly better gas mileage, but not the price. No deals from Honda. The Elantra SE was over $2000 less than the Civic LX with more features and has the best warranty going. Look at JD Powers intial quality - great! Some people even have called it 'sporty.' I highly recommended this car.
