Pros: the body
Cons: very poor interior lighting
Advice: not to purchase onetest drive was ok, but I had only had the car 2 months and it quit on me. Hyundai assured me that it was a computer problem and less than 24 hours later it quit again. This time they said it was a loose wire, and promised me it was fixed this time. Thank God it hasn't quit a third time, but I am still skeptical about it starting sometimes. I understand all about it being man made and all, but I really didn't expect this to happen this early in the game. Thanks
Pros: Very cute and comfortable
Cons: The automatic version could do with more powerful engine
Advice: Go for itI went to buy Accent and lost my heart to Elantra. After test drive, I bought the car. Entire family is thrilled. Great car.
Pros: CD player
Cons: I do not have a cassette player
Advice: Test this car and you'll love it. The car is comfortable and economical.I love the look of this car. I appreciate the features especially at this price. The sound system is great. This car is very roomy and easy to drive.
Pros: Hatch -- great for hockey equipment (and even a 50 gal water heater.
Cons: Should have 16' wheels and 6 speed manual.
Advice: Drive it. This car is outstanding.I'm still amazed at this car's value. Excellent acceleration and great handling, though the Michelins could be better. Terrific interior space and controls. I prefer the looks of the Pro5, but given the cost difference, the choice was a no brainer. I've had the car almost a year, and all 3 teen sons are fighting over who will get it when they get their licenses. Only gripes: needs 6 speed manual & 16' wheels. And Hyundai should provide more/better colors.
Cons: I took so long to buy one
Advice: You can't find a better car for the moneyCould not believe the room inside, there is more room in the Elantra than most mid & large size sedans. The handleing & ride are superb. Don't put your foot to the floor unless you are ready to fly. Great power for a little 4 cyl.
Cons: Poor interior lighting
Advice: Buy the carMy wife commutes about 120 miles to and from work everyday. We decided against buying an expensive car because no matter what, it will be worth nothing in 3 to 5 years. I preferred a car I could pay cash for. This car is awesome. I weigh 300pds and did not want a car I could not fit comfortably inside. No Problem. I fit great and the engine was better than all competitors. I walked out fully loaded at $15,800 tax and all. I will admit that I am sometimes embarrassed to tell people we drive a Hyundai, but they will be the embarrassed ones in 5 years when we've gone 200,000 miles and they are on their 3rd car.
Pros: Its Attitude
Cons: Love my car 100% all the time
Advice: Drive everything else first. You'll be buying a Hyundai and laughing your way past the others....I am the pickiest of the picky. I looked at everything from Hyundai to Honda to Toyota (Blech!). Domestics? Fugetabawit! Nothing can touch my Elantra. Kids in $20k civics with all their 'add-ons' are left with stunned looks at stop lights. People ask me 'what kind of car is it' or 'how much?'. The best $11,888 I've ever spent on a car. And, by the way, I have package 4 on mine. The only options I didn't get were ABS/Trac & AT. Having come out of a '98 Avalon XLS (GARBAGE!) that I paid $30k for and was in the shop far too many times, I couldn't be happier. I'm giving this to my neice for her next birthday and will most likely move up to a Sonata LX. Ocean Blue is the most attractive color...and I named mine 'Scrappy'. It fits.
