Pros: Precise handling
Advice: Consider this car for value and quality and as a 2nd carThis car is not for everyone. It is an individual's car who has only one thing in mind - to drive it like you really hate the car!!! In the end you'll end up with a big grin will never stop grinning. I mostly owned and drove 2 sitter sports car- a Z3 MCoupe, MR2, Porsche 944 and 944 Turbo and a Del Sol. It was the Del Sol that inspired me to consider the S2000. I test drove a Boxter, Corvette, 911,Audi TT, Evolution, and STI. With all the cars that I test drove it was the S2000 that gave me the smile after several trips to the dealers in finding my next toy. The 911 Carera S4 is what I really like but I settled to the S2000 for the value and quality. The 2.0 litre engine is definitely a jewel. It is quick and exhalirating to drive. I live in the Sierra Mountains where I mostly drive the car for weekend drives and getaways. If you see me on the road driving a little too fast, I'm not showing off, I'm only having fun. Can't help it, the car is intoxicating.......
Pros: sound, handling and looks
Cons: A little more tourque.
Advice: It's a race car not a commuter car. Drive it like one if it's what you decide to buy.I drove both the 2003 and 2004 S and it was a tough decision. I settled on the 2004! I like the mods to the interior and the better drivability at lower revs. Not to say I didn't like 9000 rpm. My s2000 is in the 6 to 8 k 60% of the time. I love the sound. My wife and I use it for long drives and feel its very comfortable. It has some engine and road noise but thats the beauty of it.
Pros: Handling..fun to drive
Cons: Conv. top should be designed to fold into the body as the 350Z.
Advice: What with Honda quality, reliability and engineering..you can't go wrong..Brought it used in '03. Just love the performance and handling. More H.P. and torque would be great. At 6'-2' the car fits like a glove and is fun to drive. Never had a car get so many 'neat/nice/sharp/sexy car' comments at various stops/intersections. I consider it a 'hobby' car for April-Oct. in Wis. fair weather. It's a blast. Would like a conv. top which folded in the body as the new 350Z Nissan does.
Pros: Acceleration is quick, but not blistering. Engine note is the second only to the Porsche Boxster! Great color combination: Black on Red 6 Speed shifts pretty smoothly
Cons: It could have been so sweet if the S2K had at least 300 hp w/260lbs.tq...
Advice: This is the closest you will get to owning a Porsche Boxster for under $60,000. It is truly an enthusiasts car. If you're looking for a comfortable every day cruiser that does not require precision driving, then this car is not for you.I had been fantasizing about drving a Porsche Boxster for awhile but the price kept our relationship at that. So I settled for a Honda S2000 which is only marginally slower but much cheaper... I've been smiling since the day I Bought it. Absolute joy to drive and still a head turner.
Cons: tight interior
Advice: lots of funTight and fast. No extra room for anyhting
Pros: Its balance, handling, and power.
Cons: Manually unlocking the passenger side door.
Advice: Don't hesitate! Run, don't walk to your Honda Dealer! At 54, I have driven a lot of cars. This is the MOST incredible one that I've ever had the pleasure to own. It is ear-to-ear enjoyment. It handles so well I haven't been able to find its limits. It's so quick it takes your breath away. It's engine sings and screams -- almost laughing. It's so beautiful, you can't help but stare at it -- and it's your OWN CAR! (Spa Yellow is SO great on this car!) I slip into it like into a beautifully tailored glove. I can't say enough good things about it. Drive it. Buy it. Enjoy it. It's the best thing since sliced bread.
Pros: The Power
Advice: Since this is a low stanced car I suggest that you look at the underbody for severe scratches.'I bought my s2000 2 months ago and since then I have added a Veilside aero kit, a HKS Hiper Exhaust system, new stereo equipment, etc. I bought these components to improve the styling and comfort of the car; not to alter it. When I bought the car I just couldn't stop driving it. I found that the aggressive stance to be amazing with the 240 horses under the hood with a 9000 RPM redline. I am 6' 4' and I did find it difficult to get in and out, but I thought it was well worth it. When I started driving I could feel the stiff suspension and then I knew I had found a true sportscar.'
