2006 Honda Pilot - EX-L w/Rear Ent. System FWD
Submitted on 1/20/2007 10:45:53 PM- Summary
Pros: Leather interior and moonroof
Cons: Gas mileage - but it is an SUV
Advice: Consider this vehicle. It may be a bit more than other SUVs, but worth every penny.
Wow! Rides smooth. Easy to handle. Doesn't feel so big and heavy. Comfortable. Roomy.

Pros: power
Cons: no headlight sensor (you actually have to turn the headlights on and off)
Advice: buy it, you wont regret this purchase
I traded a Ford Explorer for the Honda Pilot, and I do not regret it at all. I really liked my Explorer, but when I drove the Pilot, I knew this was the SUV for me. The Pilot is amazingly powerful, and the gas mileage is incredible. My Explorer got absoutely hideous gas mileage. The Pilot is fun to drive, and really comfortable, and actually seats 8 adults. Honda also gives you tons of cubby hole space and easy to reach cup holders. There lots of cute little gizmos too, some of which you wont even figure out until you read the manual, like the cell phone holder inside of the center armrest.

Pros: The driver seat. Feels like a recliner.
Cons: Doesn't have an external handle to shut the tailgate door.
Advice: Buy it and enjoy, you will not regret it.
I have had 2 other Pilots in past years and switched to a Hyundai Santa Fe 2006 due to price and rebates in July 2006. The longer I owned the Santa Fe the more I missed my 'Pilot'. I cut my losses and sold the Santa Fe and bought a new 2007 Honda Pilot in December. I will never go away from a Pilot again. I wouldn't trade my Pilot for a $50,000 SUV if they gave it to me. When I got in the Pilot to test drive, I felt like I was home again. Comfort, performance, quality, safety, 5 star crash safety, appearance, all make the Pilot the best value for your money. Even though other manufacturers are making their vehicle exterior's more rounded for modern look, consider the blind spots those vehicles will have due to the rounded back windows. The Pilot doesn't seem to have any blind spots for me. To me, the Pilot is the perfect mid-size SUV. I hope they continue to add features as standard going forward. This year fog lights are standard on the EXL. If you have never owned a Pilot, then test drive one. You will understand what I am saying if you have driven other SUVs.

2007 Honda Pilot - EX-L 4x4
Submitted on 11/13/2006 10:45:05 AM- Summary
Pros: Interior comfort, visibility and ride are tops
Cons: Could use separate driver and passenger climate controls and a back up proximity sensor
Advice: Don't be fooled by the perception the Pilot is smaller than the Pathfinder. The Pilot is actually bigger and much more comfortable for adults.
I have to admit I tried hard not to like the Pilot because from an exterior style aspect it still has a touch of the so-so about it. Looked at the Sequoia and the Pathfinder but the Sequoia was just too big and though the Pathfinder has more style or edge to it once you get in the Pilot and give it a spin you're hooked. The ride and handling on the Pilot are great. The interior quality, fit, finish were significantly better than the Pathfinder. After 3+ years driving a Montaineer, the change in road noise, handling and visibility were remarkable. Controls are well positioned and even for a 6'4' frame the driver's seat was easy to position. Very happy with the decision to go with the Pilot.

Pros: AWD
Cons: Gear shift lever and wiper stem relationship.
Advice: With 4,500 miles I get an average of 21-22 MPG. I think that after my first oil change this will improve.
I like the overall quality and function of this vehicle. Long trips are comfortable and a blast. You have great visibility and it handles quiet and stable on the highway. At 80 + MPH it is steady and manageable. Gas mileage is respectable for what the vehicle offers in return. Comfort, safety, quality and room. Unique in a vehicle at this price. The only dislike is that if I let the vehicle sit for a week or so, the interior has a strange odor. I think this comes from the leather interior, smells sort of 'animal'. The height and large tires handle most road bumps and irregularities. With 4,500 miles I'm happy I purchased the vehicle.

Pros: Interior and options
Cons: Nothing at present
Advice: 2nd and 3rd seats fold into the floor, head rest storage in the rear
EX-L with DVD Entertainment system and 2 wheel drive for fuel economy. Traded in a 2001 Chevy Suburban to trade space for mileage. The ride is very smooth, spacious interior, all the music choices with 6 CD changer, radio and XM radio in front and all of the above plus DVD for rear seats and they can listen to different stations on wireless headphones.
