Edmunds.com 2011 Honda Odyssey Overview
The next-generation Honda minivan is nearly upon us, as previewed by the sleek Odyssey Concept now rounding the auto show circuit. While the new 2011 Honda Odyssey is expected to ride on the same 118-inch wheelbase as the current van, Honda has opted for a lower, wider and more athletic look this time around. Designed and engineered in the U.S., Honda's concept incorporates a "lightning bolt" design in the beltline that not only adds a handsome signature styling touch, it also looks to give third-row passengers a first-class view of the world whizzing by. Those miles are said to disappear more efficiently, too, with Honda estimating that the 2011 Odyssey will return a significantly improved 19 mpg/city and 28 mpg on the highway -- besting both its predecessor and Toyota's latest Sienna. The reason? Honda hints about "enhanced aerodynamics" and "advanced powertrain technologies." There's more mystery to be had inside, too, where improvements are only said to "further enhance the current model's accommodating space for people and cargo." Obviously, Honda is being coy, but be sure to check back later for a thorough shakedown when the 2011 Honda Odyssey hits the road for real.
