2010 Honda Insight - EX
Pros: Great gas mileage and so much cheaper than Toyota Prius.
Cons: The getting in and out of the car for me since being so big and handicap
Advice: Buy the EX not the LX so much difference and see about one with Nav. system.I get around 38.5 mpg around town, but 45-55 on the Highway. I am a big guy 6 FT. 312 pounds and it is roomy for me. fold down rear seats and you have plenty of storage. It handldes very well. Has a very nice stereo. I usually go over 400 miles on tank of gas just driving around town before hitting empty. Has nice inf center for basic car.
2003 Honda Insight - Base (M5)
Pros: Peace of mind, I now have a car, truck or whatever this is with decent gas mileage, Honda name, great stereo, abs brakes, good visibility, lots of cup holders, room for overnight sleepovers, handlebility is great, cool car, truck or whatever this is!
Cons: No hand rest for my significant other allows her the opporunity to use her hands while talking, get it - talking?
Advice: Look for a optional handrest - that will shut her up! :) Just kidding this thing is awesome and we have became a family again because of all the things we can do together in it.great
2004 Honda Insight - Base w/AC (M5)
Pros: the mileage
Cons: battery replacement
Advice: get the extended warranty up to 100,000 miles. They will bargin on this also.I have a 2000 model. ST w/AC. I have approx 150.000 miles on the road. My only complaint is the battery pack had to be replaced at 93,000 miles. I had the extended warranty but had I not, the cost would have put it in the junk yard. The performance is much more than I expected. I drive my hard ( fast ) I have averaged inexcess of 58.5 mpg with the hard driving. I can recall getting 75 mpg when trying. I will buy another.
2004 Honda Insight - Continuously Variable Transmission
Pros: The motor shutting down when you stop and the fuel economy.
Cons: The limited seating.
Advice: Try it you will like it -We have had the car for 5 months - it has surprisingly good pick up and performance. 50 mpg is realistic. It is a two seater and has a stiff suspension, but we call it our 'fun car.' Will probably look at a Honda Accord Hybrid when the lease expires on our second car (a Toyota Camry) in order to have more than two seats.
2004 Honda Insight - Base w/AC (M5)
Pros: the hybrid engine
Cons: no room for a third passenger
Advice: Find out when one must replace the battery and average cost of the battery.2004 model Insight improves the CD sound system. Very nice safety features with air bags all around. Very progressive.
2003 Honda Insight - Base w/AC (M5)
Pros: high mpg
Cons: no cruise control availabe through Honda
Advice: buy itUnbeleivable gas mileage. So far, after 10500 miles my mpg is 69.5. Because of the electric motor & its lightness the insight is very zippy.
2002 Honda Insight - Continuously Variable Transmission w/AC
Pros: Gas Mileage
Cons: Non-Existant Trunk, size, weight, wipers, etc
Advice: Only consider if cheap and you need a high-mileage commuter carI rented a Honda Insight on a recent week long trip to D.C. and found it interesting to say the least. Acceleration was good considering that I was going 95mph on the highway at one time, and getting wierd stares at the same time. That was the good...this thing is a go-cart on steroids and other drivers treat it as such. I got bullied by everyone to include Focus, Civic, and Corolla drivers in city and highway traffic. At 95mph the thing felt like it was going to start shedding sheetmetal. In a slight evening rain the windshield and rear wipers couldn't keep up and the car is so light that hydroplaning is a problem, even at very low (15-20 mph) speeds on the highway...nevermind stopping. If you're looking for a commuter car and can get this cheap, I'd look at it. If you have friends or like to take your briefcase and your lunch to work the same day, look elsewhere.
