A comprehensive redesign for the new model year seems to have re-energized sales for the 2015 Honda Fit, as the subcompact hatch grew volume by 66.5 percent in September and delivered 6,628 units. That total establishes a new benchmark for September volume for the nameplate, while also marking a sharp increase as compared to previous months. Before the 2015 Honda Fit began reaching dealerships at full strength in recent weeks, the 2014 model had gotten so far into the red that, even after a record-breaking September, the car's year-to-date total was still 3.4 percent lower than for the same period in 2013.

Of course, it certainly helps that the new 2015 Honda Fit is bigger, more powerful and more efficient than the previous-generation model, all while seeing a minor price bump to $15,525.

Even better, at least for Honda fans, is the fact that the 2015 Honda Fit was joined in the September record books by the CR-V compact crossover. With the refreshed 2015 model on sale today boasting a new, 34-mpg engine and more available safety innovations, the 2014 CR-V capped off its run on the marketplace by dialing up the volume by 10.6 percent and selling 23,722 units—achieving a new high-water for September CR-V sales in the process.

The Honda Accord and Honda Odyssey post impressive September sales figures as well: The Accord once again outpaced the Toyota Camry to remain the best-selling car in the country, courtesy of 32,956 deliveries and a big-time 30.9 percent spike in demand, while Honda's minivan entry was good for 8,769 September sales and a 13.7 percent improvement in the standings.

With those entries setting the pace, the Honda brand enjoyed its best September sales volume since the 2007 recession and realized 104,391 sales (up 11.2 percent).

The party line from Jeff Conrad, Honda division senior vice president and general manager: "With all core Honda models now made in North America the Honda brand is continuing to gain strength with American car buyers. And with the redesigned 2015 Honda CR-V going on sale today we expect our momentum to continue to grow as step-by-step we reinforce our light truck lineup."
