Cons: cheap exterior paint
Advice: for $26I have owned many vehicles over the past 40 years -- this car has cheap paint job, easily scratched by finger nails at all door handles; small things that do not work correctly (pull -out cup holder, rear auxiliary plug-in); air is either cold or hot (does not regulate well). Only 28,000 miles on it, and now it sounds like there may be a problem with the transmission. I was pesterd by 6 or 7 different departments from the dealership, calling me at work to see if I was happy with my purchase (I only had the car for a week - how could I know?). The financing department pulled some shady stuff at the last minute; and after I specifically told them not to submit a loan application to one specific lender, they did it anyway.
Pros: The stereo controls on the steering wheel.
Cons: I like it all.
Advice: Buy the SE if you can, just a better look and seems to be more comfortable.I test drove all of the small SUV's before deciding to buy a 2005 Honda CR-V, SE. There was no comparison.
Pros: Gas mileage
Cons: Right hand hits controls during operation. Seat does not go aft far enough
Advice: See if it 'fits you' ok.Gas mileage, handling, etc. excellent. However, not enough leg room for a long-legged driver. I am trying to figure some way to re-bolt the seat an inch or two aft without jeopardizing safety (seat belts, etc.). Also, when you use the gearshift you are in danger of turning on the wipers. When you tune the radio, same thing. Spouse thinks entry is too high for her to climb in (she is short). Excellent car, but I should have test driven before buying.
Pros: Sharp looking & overall sensibility
Cons: Should offer an option with the Accord V-6 and/or Accord Hybrid engine.
Advice: If you want a safe, sharp-looking, practical, reliable, and efficient SUV, the Honda CR-V is your best choice! One adjective that best describes the CR-V is sensible! It's well designed, sharp looking, safe, spacious, and economical. Having had this car for 5 months, I put in over 5K of hard driving and it has been behaving well. Acceleration is sufficient at low speeds. Though, I find it's underpowered when climbing steep (11% grade) hills, even with only 3 people and luggage. The button (automatic) that on-the-fly shifts one gear lower doesn’t help much in this case. You have to permanently shift to lower gears to extract the optimal performance/torque. Since I rarely haul a lot of things up steep hills, I'd rather sacrifice power for efficiency. The average mileage started in the low 20s and now reaches about 24. Don't think it's broken yet (another 5-10K?). For an SUV, it offers great visibility, even better than many cars! Everything else about this car is very typical of Honda.
Pros: Drop down drink tray between front seats
Cons: no armrests....!?
Advice: Good value for the $$$This is my first SUV owned and I am not sure if that effects my overall feeling of it, but it's extremely comfortable and roomy. Plenty of storage and legroom and the controls are easy to use. The exterior is very good looking and it doesn't feel too big.
Cons: shifter on steering column
Advice: If you are not sureThis is by far, the best small SUV on the market based on performance, room, gas mileage, price and resale value. I have had it for four months after trading in a Freelander. In Colorado, the acceleration in the mountains is phenomenal for a 4 cyclider.
Pros: The noise currently outweighs any features I like.
Cons: The noise and treatment.
Advice: Don't buy it.After owning the Honda CRV SE edition for 3 months a clicking noise started to come from the steering wheel area. The dealer needed me to leave it all day for them to take apart the steering wheel. Unfortunately I had appointments in the afternoon and Honda does not have a loaner program I was unable to. Since then the noise has been inconsistent which presents a problem for technicians to work on. I am very unhappy with the car and with Honda's and their dealers attitude.
