2013 Honda Civic Summary

Changes for the 2013 Honda Civic Coupe:

The Honda Civic Coupe was completely redesigned for the 2012 model year. For 2013, the Civic Coupe receives numerous upgrades, even though the only outward indications of change are new wheel designs. Inside, the cabin is upgraded with refined detailing, soft-touch materials, additional standard equipment, and SmartVent side-impact airbags. Underneath the sheetmetal, a stronger structure is in place, while the steering and suspension are recalibrated to provide a more refined ride and handling character.

Model Lineup:

Consumers shopping for a 2013 Honda Civic Coupe can choose from four different trim levels: practical LX, uplevel EX, luxury-themed EX-L, and performance-tuned Si.

Engines and Transmissions:

A 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine making 140 horsepower is standard equipment for all Civic Coupe models except for the Si version, which gets a 201-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine matched exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard for the Civic LX Coupe, with a 5-speed automatic optional for this model. The automatic is standard on the EX and EX-L variants.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

The most fuel-efficient versions of the 2013 Honda Civic Coupe are the LX, EX, and EX-L models with the 5-speed automatic transmission, all of which are rated to return 32 mpg in combined driving. Buyers choosing the Civic LX Coupe with the manual gearbox can expect to get 31 mpg in combined driving, while the Civic Si Coupe is expected to provide 25 mpg in combined driving.

Safety Ratings:

One of the updates made to the 2013 Honda Civic Coupe is the installation of an Advanced Compatibility Engineering II (ACE II) body structure, which is designed to help improve the car’s crash protection levels. It would appear that ACE II works. The 2013 Honda Civic is the first small car to earn a “Top Safety Pick Plus” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, specifically because it receives the highest possible rating of “Good” in the new small overlap frontal-impact crash test. As this model summary is published, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not performed crash tests on the new 2013 Civic Coupe.

Technology Highlights:

Every 2013 Honda Civic Coupe gains Bluetooth audio streaming, Pandora Internet radio compatibility, SMS text messaging capability, and a reversing camera as standard equipment. Add the optional navigation system to the Civic EX-L or Civic Si, and a multi-view reversing camera replaces the standard single-view system.
