2011 Lexus CT 200h Offers a Step Up From the Toyota Prius
The 2011 Lexus CT 200h is a new entrant in the Lexus vehicle lineup. With a base price below $30,000, the vehicle is now one of the most affordable luxury hybrids on the road. For those who want a bit more class than offered by the Toyota Prius, the sportier Lexus CT200h may offer a good alternative. Review specs, features and pricing for the 2011 CT200h to decide if it belongs in your driveway.
2011 Lexus CT 200h Styling
Cosmetically, the Lexus CT 200h is a notable divergence from the traditional Lexus vehicle. Designed to be sportier than most other Lexus vehicles, the CT 200h boasts a protruding front overhang and a tall, sloping rear end. For some, the innovative exterior may stray too far from the Lexus path. For others, the coupe-like design may prove very attractive.
Inside, the vehicle delivers much of the luxury and appointments that Lexus drivers have come to know and love. However, the interior layout and design receives mixed reviews from some. Compared to the Prius, the CT 200h delivers a much smaller rear seat - a fact that may deter some shoppers. Cargo space is equally diminutive. However, the availability of additional tech features and a flashy gauge cluster may help win over those who are considering the Prius.
2011 Lexus CT 200h Performance
For a hybrid car, the Lexus CT 200h is one of the sportiest affordable options out there. However, those looking for sports car performance may be disappointed with the net 134 horsepower offered by the vehicle. However, those who are willing to forfeit a little acceleration in favor of mpgs will likely be pleased with the balance offered by the CT 200h.
In terms of mileage, Lexus estimates the vehicle is good for 40 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway (the EPA has yet to test the vehicle). While not quite as good as the 50-mpg combined offered by the Prius, the CT 200h is one of the most fuel-efficient luxury vehicles available. If you want a luxury car that offers similar fuel ratings, then you might also take a look at the 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.
2011 Lexus CT 200h Safety
The Lexus CT 200h offers a long list of standard safety features. These include, eight airbags, stability control, traction control and a pre-emptive crash system. Available options include dynamic radar cruise control and Safety Connect (the Lexus company's answer to GM OnStar).
The Lexus hybrid has not yet undergone crash tests by the National highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
