2003 GMC Sonoma - SLS 4x4 Extended Cab

    Pros: 4x4

    Cons: power

    Advice: its a roach

a dog. cant pull a 2 palce snowmobile trailer with much gusto. needs more torque and horsepower. 2001 sonoma 4x4 4.3L . had a 94 blazer, 4x4, 4.3l and it had more gusto. the 99 sonoma 4x4 4.3L also had better nut than the 2001!. there are exhaust changes and computer re-cal changes for 2001 (made it slower) otherwise besides the front hubs being junk, it made for a reliable machine,, uncomfortable passenger seat and terrible armrest. hard cusion.. ouch! -- divot created in it after time on the road. :) but a good truck in all reality, just doggy. nice 4x4 lo range. helpful!

    2004 GMC Sonoma - Base

Pros: SR5 Appearance package -- smooth 4 wheel drive

Cons: that it will be discontinued

Advice: I would get one before they are all gone

I have been looking for a comfortabe mid size truck, with four (real) doors. I looked at the Nissan Frontier and Toyaota Tacoma. They both were good trucks, but add ons become extremeley expensive. I was impressed with comfort and ease of this vehicle. The SR5 appearance package is a definete addition. Easy transition into 4 wheel drive. A lot of extras for the money.

    2003 GMC Sonoma - 4x4 Crew Cab

    Pros: Four full size doors

Cons: Bed should be a little longer/ gas mileage could be a little better

Advice: Look it over closely before buying compared to the Colorado/Canyon it is a better truck for the money

The 2003 SLS Crew Cab comes with more bells and whistles than expected from the auto volume radio to the automatic headlights. The ride and performance are outstanding. The back seat is definitely big enough for two grown men but would be quite tight for three. The four wheel drive works flawlessly. If I had to do it again I would definitely buy it all over again.

    2004 GMC Sonoma - Base

Pros: The crew cab makes quite a bit more room for a compact.

Cons: The standard seats just your basic adjustments.

Advice: Get the ZR5 apperance package also opt for the leather seats with the power seat adjustments.

The truck handles very tight well balanced steering excellent braking moderate ride overall very good turning radius for how long the trucks wheel base is is a very good driver.

    2002 GMC Sonoma - 4x4 Crew Cab

    Pros: The third door

Cons: The underpowered 4 cyl engine

Advice: Get the V6 and extended cab version

This truck is very comfortable. Took it to Florida this year and surprisingly it was not bad. The 4 cyl engine is starved for power and if I had it to do over again I would opt for the V6 version. Gas milage on the 4 cyl is not great. I think I saw 25 mpg max the entire trip. I have the extended cab version which is great since the seats can be slid further back than the stand cab will allow.

2003 GMC Sonoma - SLS 4x4 Extended Cab

Pros: Speed Sensitive Volume and 4WD

Cons: The seat adjustment has trouble locking into place

Advice: Make sure it's not too small for your family

I love my GMC Sonoma. It is quite, functional, easy to care for, and very reliable. I haven't had any problems with my Sonoma at all. The interior is rugged and none of the trim has broken off on the inside. My only regret is not buying the extended cab or the Sierra. I wasn't planning a family when I bought it and now, there's no room for my baby's car seat.

2003 GMC Sonoma - SL 4x2 Regular Cab 7.5' Box

    Pros: Ride quality

    Cons: Fit and Finish

Advice: Rear locking differential (get It)

This truck handles very well for a crew cab.I spent a 'little' extra for the ZR5 package. It was worth it.I love the power of the 4.3 vortec engine.the interior is very comfortable and accomodating.I do have some issues with fit and finish.Hopefully this will be resolved with the dealership.I found the $27,000+ price tag to be ridiculous, but with the rebate and other incentive price breaks,I was able to get the truck for around $21,500.The crew cab certainly fits the bill for my family of four. The kids like the back seat and having sat back there myself was surprised by the amount of leg room. Why GMC chose not to make cutouts in the back of the front seat for foot room is beyond me.Overall a very capable small truck!
