2006 Ford Ranger - XLT (867A) 4x4 2dr Super Cab Styleside
Pros: The ease of use, everything is well laid out and easy to use.
Cons: The stock good year tires.
Advice: If you are a large person go with the extended cabThis little truck can do anything! Off-road it is great. On-road is clean. The only thing that I don't care for on the truck is the stock tires. Not bad, just not good at any one thing.
2006 Ford Ranger - XL (861A) 4x2 Regular Cab Styleside Short Box
Pros: Vehicle ride height
Cons: Gas mileage only fair
Advice: Strongly consider the 3.0 V6 for long term useI got the 3.0L v6 automatic. No problems with anything after 4 monthes (fingers crossed). Overall I've been happy with it. Of the three engines available I like this one best due to its cast iron block and head construction. Read the shop manual - if you have any engine problems with the other engines it will require an engine replacement. As a long term owner I recommend the 3.0 L for its serviceability.
2006 Ford Ranger - XLT (867A) 4x4 Regular Cab Styleside Long Box
Pros: power and performance
Cons: shifter hard to reach, ashtray is out of reach
Advice: could not find anything that can compair with power and performance, looks good too.I only have 230 miles on my new ranger 4x4 but just love it. it has the 4.0 engine, 5 speed standard shift--gearing is perfect- runs at 60 mph- 2100 rpm --fuel milage so far is 25.6 mpg!!!it has the heavy springs and tow package - the ride is stiff but not bad, drives very good, has monster power for a small truck. i would recomend this for anyone who hunts or fishes. the only thing i can find out of place is the shifter is a little to far forward--great truck.
