Good vehicle for us
Pros: small truckBest small truck ... like the big truck but small for city driving
Pros: the 3.0L V6 may only have 170HP but if u shift it right with a stick u will burn most people with a v8 that dont know how to drive it right
Cons: gas i wish it got a little more mpg, and it didnt have a speed limiter
Advice: buy it basic, less things to go wrong if u want somthing quick i advise the 3.0L with the 5 speed stickThis is my 1st car, and im very pleased with it. when i drove it i pulled up next to a v6 mustang (newer one) and when i reved ou the 1st gear the guy started to rev out his apparently he wanted to race so i pushed the truck as hard as it could and wooped the mustang, to this day i push the truck hard every time i take it down the road i open it up once or twice.
Pros: Plenty of power with the 4.0
Cons: GAS HOG!!!!!!
Advice: Have deep pockets to pay for that rising gas.Had my 4.0 4x4 for the last 2 years and just now traded it in. This is the 3rd ranger that I have owned and they have all been great. My biggest beef and this one is the poor gas milage which is blamed because of the gearing in the rear. With the price of gas going crazy, I could not take the 17 MPG which was on a good day. My Brothers' F150 4x4 got the same. That slayed me. Other then that, it was a great truck as all of my Rangers have been.
Cons: tires- cheap continentals
Advice: Looking for a no-nonsense truck this is the oneHad some issues with interior fit and driver side door problems 'squeaks'. All has been resolved. The 4.0 is great, strong and smooth! Transmission shifts flawlessly. This is a great overall truck for the money, not as refined as some others, but still a wonderful truck!
Pros: Gas mileage--29 mpg from the first tank!
Cons: Interior fabric is coarse and soils easily
Advice: Look for sale prices and value packaging. The 2.3L is very refined (probably Mazda's contribution) and provides good power with the 5-speed manual. Handling and ride are good for a small truck. It easily crusies at 75 MPH and road/wind noise are effectively dampened. The new hood design looks sharp and is better built (heavier) than pre-2004 models. Good American built iron--nice job Ford!
Pros: Easy to use shift on the fly switch.
Cons: Didn't find anything so far.
Advice: Shop hard, question everything, take notes, take time away (Lunch etc.) before your decision.Very uncomplicated dash and cab,yet sporty. Rides very smooth for a 4+4. V6 is powerful but not overwhelming. Fun truck to drive.!
