Cons: Everything else
Advice: Go with an import, domestic manufacturers do not care about the customer. The vehicle has never left me stranded and that's about it. The drivline rumbles, the heater stinks everytime it's turned on, the passenger door opens on its own-yes, it opens on its own, there is a clunk in the drivers door next to my ear, the drivers seat has a loud clunk on cold days. Those are the most prevalent problems but not all, be very careful when you buy one of these. Ford has become very complacent and although very politically correct, they cannot verify the problems so they do not exist. The last time it was in the shop, the test drive was for 4 miles and the A/C was blasting and the radio was on when I got my vehicle back, and this will verify the problems how?
Pros: Shift on the fly 4 wheel drive
Cons: Can't think of anything I don't like
Advice: try it you'll like itI have owned my Ford Ranger for about three mths now and I like everything about it. The handling is surpurb. I have had almost everyone of my co workers coming up to me and telling me what a nice looking truck I have. Some have even gone and purchased one for themselves. It is absolutley everything I wanted in a truck.
Pros: Gas Mileage (almost 30 MPG) and looks
Cons: I wished I had bought a super cab but didn't want to spend the extra money for a go to work truck
Advice: Drive it, you'll love it but make sure there is enough room in the cab for youI bought my 2004 Ranger XL to tow behind my motorhome. I drove a few other small trucks (Colorado and Toyota) and found the Ranger to be the best buy. Before you compare this truck and be so bruital twoards it rember, it is by far less expensive than others in the same size. The 4 cylinder performs well and gets great gas mileage. I wanted the 6 cylinder but prefered the better mileage of the 4 cylinder which seems to have plenty of power. The standard cab is barely ok for me (6 foot tall) and so much better than some of the others. Overall I feel the truck is built well and it is the best selling small truck for something like 20 years. I had a 2000 Chev S-10 and this truck has far better performance than the Chev 4 cylinder...I feel it is the best truck for the money and I did look at a lot of them... thanks so much :)
Pros: Great power and take off from a standing start
Cons: Ford has eliminated the full gauge package and took off the Oil and battery gauges so now all there is the Tack Fuel Temp and Speedometer
Advice: Try the other first and save the Ranger for lastI have yet to buy the 2004 but I have a 2002 Ranger XLT Super Cab 4 door with the 4.0 and I feel that Ford has a superior product compared to Nissan and Toyota. Test drive the rest and then test drive the best small Pick Up on the market. After 60K miles it still runs like the day it was taken off the lot. Don't be fooled by the look alikes and can never be's. The Drop sown says they do not have the Ranger Super Cab for 2002. Trust me I own one and if I ever trade it in for another small truck it will be another Ranger The year and make/model combination entered for a vehicle (2002 Ford Ranger Super Cab) own was not found in our database
Cons: comfort with reg cab
Advice: test drive for more then just around block.Seats in reg. cab for tall people don't work well. Ext. cab alot better if over 6ft. Seats are not comfy at all after an hour or so (60/40 bench). Lots of plastic parts, normal for all cars/trucks now anyways. I bought it as work truck so bottom line 4x2 reg cab 4cyl man trans. Great for work truck but would get cruise and tilt if wanted it for more then work or around town.(hard to see gauges with out tilt.
Pros: I like the smoth automatic transmission and overall performace of the truck.
Cons: No day time running lights? But are they worth it?
Advice: Take it from a previous Ranger owner there is none better.I purchased my Ranger 3 weeks ago. It is much better than the previous Rangers or other small trucks out there. Style, power, towing capacity, ride and value for the dollar can't be beat.
Pros: Gas mileage averages around 24 mpg.
Cons: Comfort and usability of features
Advice: Buy something elseThe first thing you notice as you drive this truck is that you cannot see the speedometer, it is blocked by the steering wheel (no tilt). This is just one example of poor design. Both the side and rear view mirrors are too small. The cup holders are poorly positioned. The ashtray is useless, lacking a light, and requiring the driver to lean over to use them; then being impossible to empty. The 60/40 seats are very uncomfortable after more than a 1 hour drive. On the road, stability is a real problem. It bounces side to side at the passing of any large truck, or due to concrete grooves. The gas cap does not have a lock, and you cannot find one in the auto parts stores. I cannot imagine a more poorly designed vehicle.
