April Ford Sales: Blue Oval Trucks, Crossovers Selling Well
As mentioned, both the Fusion and Edge achieved new April records, with the Blue Oval’s midsize sedan good for 21,160 sales (a modest 2 percent increase) and the division’s upscale crossover leveraging a 12.4 percent growth rate to move 10,520 units.
Other strong Ford performers last month included:
Ford Focus—Expanding sales by 12.5 percent, the Focus benefitted from 19,425 deliveries; the compact contender also has posted its highest sales total for the first four months of a year since 2001.
Ford F-150—The country’s top-selling vehicle reaped its largest April sales volume in five years, managing a 4 percent bump in deliveries, which reached 47,453 units last month.
Ford Explorer—A fairly modest increase in volume (6.6 percent) helped the Explorer to its best April since 2005: 13,419 sales.
Ford Flex—Flex sales have been on a sharp rise since its subtle restyling for the 2013 model year, and that trend continued in April as the big box achieved a 41.4 percent improvement in volume on the delivery of 2,724 units.
April Ford Sales: Lincoln Lookin’ for Growth
Despite its ongoing struggles, Ford’s luxury division did have a few bright spots in April. Even as the division itself saw another 12.8 percent of its sales evaporate, the Lincoln MKS caught a 56.8 percent boost in volume and the Lincoln MKT took a 43.4 percent bounce in the right direction. Just note that those numbers reflect just 1,298 deliveries of Lincoln’s full-size sedan and only 654 sales of the division’s full-size crossover.
