Advice: Drive several of the cars with different combinations of equipmentThe 2002 Mustang has the look and feel of a souped-up modern version of the 1969 Mustang, which was the best year for the car (up until now). The dimensions are about the same as the 1969, but the handling is better, perhaps because of the trailing-arm rear suspension that replaced the leaf spring setup. The interior is small like the '69, but everything including the glove box is in easy reach. Nobody over three feet tall should consider trying the back seat. I have driven several of the V6 models, and I am extremely impressed. The stick shift car is a bit better performance-wise, of course, but the automatic overdrive transmission does not seem to take away much power. The AOD also shifts and downshifts smoothly, making passing fun again. The manual transmission is a world-class Borg Warner (Tremec) T5 (according to the Ford parts manager), and the shifing is very tight, which takes some getting used to, especially if you are comning over from FWD car. Accelleration is smooth and you can feel the power. Going uphill on a short onramp to the 91 freeway the other day, air conditioning on (very cold, very quickly, by the way) and two 225-plus pound guys in the car, we were doing 65 in fourth gear at the top of the ramp without the throttle wide-open. There is excess power at 70 MPH in 5th gear, and you have to be careful not to let the speed get away from you, because the car wants to do 90. I have driven the smaller V8 version of the car, and I am not impressed with the difference in power and accelleration, given the much higher price. I have not driven the bigger V8 yet. My only complaint is that the standard cloth seats are a bit cheesy and don't look like they will stand much use. Of course, we used to joke that the 1969 model came from the factory with the seats ripped. I think if I buy the Mustang (I am waiting to find the right color combination)I'll switch to a Ricaro seat in a couple of years. The Mustang has a checkered history, mostly due to incompetence of the Ford executives. It started out as a glorified Falcon (1964-1/2), grew into a sports car (1965-70), then a junior land yacht (1971-73, when sales were less than 1/2 of 1969), and finally became a souped up Pinto (1974 to the 80's). It has taken 20 years, but Ford has finally returned to the roots of this car, and made it fun to drive again.

Advice: get oneI bought the GT premium with the 5-speed. I drove this car from Michigan to Florida and back. It's a blast to drive on freeways with moderate traffic. Manual trans sucks in heavy traffic, but wouldn't trade for auto. Great for weaving in and out of traffic, handled heavy rain and wet roads well. No problem with door seals, but plastic interior is a little creaky. Road noise is loud but great sound system makes up for it.
Pros: 6cd in dash / trac-loc - great for rain and snow

Advice: Find the color you want and want buy itThis is my 5th mustang... and best yet. More comfortable, more power. Wish Ford would lower the car by about 2'. Sound systems is more like an aftermarket product than Original equipment.

You won't regret it!I've been a Crysler,Dodge & Plymouth fan most of my life, I've always liked the looks of the Mustang but that was as far as it went till my ex-wife purchased a 1996 model and let me drive it. I then rented a 2001 6cyl convertable to drive to a Family Reunion and I was sold, a few weeks later I purchased my 2002 Ford Mustang GT Premuim Edition and you don't allow enough room here to tell you how much I 'LOVE' this car. Looks,Comfort,Handling,Performance are unequaled in any previsely owned vehical. And to think I almost purchased a PT Crusier,and if it wasn't for the sneaky underhanded behind the back tactics of Sarasota Chrysler I would have made a 'BIG' mistake, for that I thank them. Advice: Test Drive it.Just bought a 2002 Mustang Coupe. I love the car. It has great finish, plenty of power and torque - even with the V-6, and a great price for what you get.
